Point taken. Does the state advertise that 2nd place prize will be approximately $171,000? I've been to California a few times but I didn't pay any attention to Powerball jackpot advertising.

I belong to a pool that plays Mega Millions and Powerball. The manager of the pool also has pools for UK Lotto. I have not participated in the pools but I see they often win. For example, they played last week and won more money than they spent. This is always a good thing.

It kind of feels like beating a dead horse but I'm not surprised that the jackpot for Mega Millions isn't growing as quickly, even after the Powerball jackpot was won. Out of the 15 free megamillions tickets I had for Tuesday, I only got one megaball. At least it was 4x so I spent the $20 on a Powerball ticket with 4 advance plays and got one more free MM for tomorrow night. It's only 2x.

The Mega Millions jackpot has increased by $23 million to $381 million after 21 consecutive rolls. This is a surprisingly small increase given the Powerball jackpot was won recently and is only $33 million. This is caused in part to a lowering of interest rates.

I am still a naysayer when it comes to the MM. $5 is still too much for one ticket, even for the $358M jackpot. I will continue with the $20M Powerball instead. No matter what, I can still get two PB for the price of one MM ticket.
