$330 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot nears record high
I think you've completely missed the point. 1, 5 or 100 tickets is very much like the QP vs self-pick argument. QP's account for the majority of winners not because any individual QP ticket is more likely to win, but because they account for the majority of tickets being played.
If player A plays 100 tickets and player B plays 5 tickets then player A is definitely 20 times more likely to win than player B. At the same time, if 99 people play 5 tickets for every person who plays 100 tickets th

$200 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot increased
By Todd Northrop
Players of the Mega Millions multi-state lottery have an even better reason to rush out and buy some tickets before tonight's drawing.
The grand prize for tonight's Mega Millions drawing has been raised to $200 million from the previous estimate of $196 million, established after nobody won Friday's top prize.
The lump-sum cash value of tonight's jackpot has also been raised to $127.3 Million.
Officially raising a jackpot estimate before a drawing is rare, and only h

What's with NY Sweet Million??
I researched big volume NY lottery retailers a few months ago, and that info isn't on-line, but Queens is the winner when it comes to players winning the most money from lotteries and scratch-off tickets in NY. and the Queens retailers who have given out the most money to players are listed.
I haven't been lucky the last few weeks on my tickets, not even close, one Sweet Million I purchased last month had 4 numbers, but no luck ever since. I've mostly been purchasing at retailers where big ja

Why do people play QP's?
The 5 + 1 games websites tell us that 70 to 80% of tickets sales, and 70 to 80% of jackpot sinners are quick picks.
They also tell us that on an average a jackpot is hit 12 to 15 times a year.
(This was prior to both games being available in the same states. Not enough data on those results yet).
Using 15 jackpots a year and 70% quick picks (being generous to the non-QPs) that tells us of the 15 jackpots 10.5 were QPs.
So people who are vehmently anti-QP really believe that they are

Attention State Lottery Officials - Here's What The Players Want
ThatScaryChick,
Gee, that is pitiful for a Pick 5.
Illinois used to be 5/30 and went to 5/39, big difference, but there have been jackpots of $1,000,000.
People wanted to get paid for hitting 2 numbers, so now 2 pays $1 (be careful what you wish for!), 3 pays $10 and 4 pays $100 and the jackpots are progressive.
When it was 5/30, if I remember right, the jackpot was a fixed $200,000 and 4 of 5 and 3 of 5 were pari-mutuel.
But for your state, 5/36 stafrting at $20,000 and progressi

$300,000,000 Jackpots
I voted maybe.
Since PB and MM are now in some of the same states things may change. For example, you can't take the matrix of any given game staying the same for granted.
Back a few years ago just before California joined MM there was a media hype about possible $500,000,000 jackpots. It's never even come close to that, but the matrix did expand.
We also can't be sure that the whole thing isn't a marketing test for a Lotto USA .
When those who run a lotteery want jackpots to get pu

HOT LOTTO may be small potatoes HOWEVER...
I love to play Hot Lotto. Although the jackpots don't get as large as the big games, I enjoy playing it. I have done somewhat well with picking on that game, but no jackpot for me yet. In my observation, the jackpot seems hard to hit, but that's just my opinion. There were only 6 winners last year, and 3 of those were in November and December.
It has a decent matrix, with 39 regular numbers and 19 hot balls. I too, am disappointed that MUSL can show the consolidated results for PB, but not H
