Lotteries long for 'jackpot fever'
There are plenty of low matrix games for those people who want them. Slot machines are proof that people don't really pay attention to actual odds. I'm assuming that they are talking about US games since Euromillions had record sales last year. It also had two jackpots over $200 million in cash. If US lottery operators would finally raise the price instead of raising the odds then powerball/mega could really take off. Considering that the actual winnings in the US is only 33-25% of the pos

location, location, location?
Rick G, justxporing.... I understand about the demographics, but Rick G beat me to mentioning the miracle mile - it's along US 41 in Wisconsin and well, blasts any 'logic' about demographics right out the window. Naturally word about a winner gets out and people flock to those places, but the amount of jackpots won in 'miracle mile' stores is way out of proportion. I posted about this before, but at least for the game of Little Lotto, it seems an inrdonate amount of jackpot winners ar

I think you need to look at demographics. For example, in Florida a very large portion of the winning tickets are in Miami-Dade county. However, there are also millions of people living there. Additionally, you might want to consider the areas where people work, since many players purchase tickets during their lunch hour or after finishing work. So a big city or one with a lot of businesses might sell more tickets and, therefore, have more winners. However, many small stores in Podunk have

Odds 101
Coin Toss, Its obvious true odds are meaningless when the question is how much can I win for a buck . And you can get $5000 for your buck hitting a Pick-4 straight combination. What happened in your other thread and in this one too, people were saying by playing 10 different straight combinations they now had 10 chances of winning $5000 so they were lowering the odds by a factor of 10. I guess they forgot by playing 10 more combinations, they changed the question to how much can I win f

Mary, I got my Pogo Club membership last month and I love it........low cost for a year and no ads......my sister talked me into the Club membership and when I was at her house, I saw the advantage to getting the membership and they double the jackpots and it is a much better Blackjack. I also love the Bingo and the Dice Racing game. Lee, somehow I can't get the Hold 'em thru my head. All the stuff ya got to remember confuses me. I watch on TV alot but can't figure out all the terminology.

Megamillions starts with higher cash value jackpot.
The cash value of the Megamillions jackpot is $6.7M and is advertised at $12M. Although the advertised value of the reset PB jackpot is higher, the cash value is slightly lower, $6.6M. Because the odds of winning the Powerball are higher than the odds of winning the MM, the Powerball is still a better bet. It will be interesting, though, should the jackpots role simultaneously for a while, to see how it evolves. It is almost certain that every Megamillions jackpot will exceed in cash v

Multiple jackpot wins question?
Quote: So I might give the ticket to someone else to claim the MM jackpot for me. You give it to someone else then it belongs to someone else. If you win keep it, cash it, then if you feel like giving it to someone go ahead, or pm me i'll take care of it for you/me for half of the pot. Giving some of your money away can be a good thing tax wise. What would you do?? If your state didn't allow you to claim anonymously would you still try and claim both jackpots yourself? Yes at this po

Mega Millions lottery jackpot increases to $18 million
Since the first rollover never doubles the jackpot, they clearly never sell enough tickets on the first draw to pay for the minimum prize. If typical sales for the first draw are about 13 million, it's a safe bet that sales for the next draw are at least 13 million, but they'd need to sell a total of 30 million to pay for the usual $15 million annuity. That may mean that they usually don't reach their break even point until the third draw. If they sold 20 million last time around they should

Texas lottery players want to get rid of 'bonus ball'
The idiot who made the present system ... should be fired for his/her arrogant stupidity, wrote Paul Ferreira of Grand Prairie. Larry Powell of Dallas came at the issue from an opposite point of view, but arrived at pretty much the same conclusion. I don't know who came up with dropping the bonus ball, but I say let's run 'em for governor, Powell wrote. It's the best idea for the state since paving the roads. When Lotto debuted in late 1992, players selected six numbers from 1 thr

New System – I MIGHT be on to something
Hi Mouche,Thanks for your comments and advice. I am not a big Gail Howard fan. I have two of her books but in my opinion, there is not much difference between her and Steve Player, Robert Serotic, Professor Jones and all the other supposed wheeling experts. The Bottom line is many can and have developed wheels over the years. Some use letters and some use numbers. I have developed my own wheels within excel spreadsheets that work just as well. I actually prefer the wheels on the Lottery Po
