Oregon Lottery proposes rules regulating courier services and preventing bulk ticket purchases
It's because of the stupid 2X multiplier and the baseline starting jackpot. Eliminate the 2X multiplier and increase the starting baseline jackpot to $150M and you will see the new MM pop. The players are a lot smarter than the LOTTERY SUITS give them credit for. They need to see what they are paying for .

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
The Mega Millions jackpot increased by the minimum $10 million to $140 million. It is estimated the current jackpot is under funded from sales by about $0.3 million. This will be the last minimum $10 million jackpot increase. Going forward, the jackpot will be fully funded by sales. Nonetheless, there is no possibility for the Mega Millions jackpot to catch up to the Powerball jackpot. The Powerball jackpot is clearly winning this race.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
We are also skipping Mega Millions this week. Waiting for the jackpot to get a lot bigger. At least bigger than Powerball.
My reasons are very different than MM's reasons, but I'm hoping that we'll see a ridiculously large jackpot in 3 months or so. By that time PB will either have been won or be well beyond the current record. Either way, at $5 per ticket for essentially the same odds I think it's foolish to buy a MM ticket unless it's substantially bigger than PB. Regardless of what PB is

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
The Mega Millions jackpot is growing slower than last time because it is being over shadowed by the much larger Powerball jackpot.
And/or more of the people who aren't addicted are sitting it out for more general reasons about MM itself.
The sales forecast for Friday are up about 5% over the previous Friday, so maybe we'll see another modest increase for Friday 8/1, too. Based on the last couple of increases we'll almost certainly see it advertised as 130 next Tuesday (funded at about 1

Maryland: 7/1 - 7/31/2025
But he saved us $50 each supposedly (talking point from the news). This is just 1 of many taxes they added, mostly business to business taxes. I live near both PA WV so might be able to go to those states to get things or services that are cheaper. Already playing Lotto America in WV in place of MM.
From what I can see it appears to be from --

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Can't expect folks to purchase a chance , when you increase the price by 150 % with bloviated promises of bigger 2nd tier prizes, easier winning opportunities and forced purchasing options. It's not the only game in town. But I do wish the participants much luck.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
This is correct. Lottery sales actually increase in poor economic conditions. It is a leading indicator of recession. People play when they get desperate mainly scratch tickets and a study in WA showed people spend more proportionately from unemployment checks vs paychecks adjusted for amount.
