When Mega Millions Goes To $2/Ticket
Hi Ruud, welcome to LP! By the way, are you the mysterious Feb. 11 winner of the record R.I. Powerball jackpot? From industry buzz and twitter from MUSL there has been speculation of a $1 increase. This is not an official statement from Mega Millions itself. As far as the May date, Through googling several articles about lottery price increases, this was a projected window of time that MM might consider implementing the increase. I would agree with you, that May would be a short period

Is 50 Million Dollars Not Enough??
On the heels of a near record $364 Million jackpot, probably won by just one person, the wind was sucked out of many people's sails. I think it will take another 4-6 drawings to pick up the pace again. At $2 a ticket, there were many lotto wannabee's that slapped down hundreds to have a shot at their dreams. Takes time to get over that post lottery depression. $50 Million is still a STAGGERING amount of cash!!! I will always play regardless of the size.

Proposed Buffett Rule and How It Would Apply to Some Lottery Winners Who Invest
That doesn't prove or disprove anything, except that they were wrong 40 years ago. The Koch brothers funded a study to disprove global warming/climate change, and couldn't. They ended up reconfirming what has been said. Now, don't get me wrong, these hyper-environmentalists are just nutjobs hell bent on controlling the economy through environmental protection . Global temperatures have risen, though. That doesn't mean all the snow stopped. We may have seen bad snow storms, but we've also

You honestly think that after doubling the military budget, we can find NO room to scale back? There's no waste? I understand that the Federal Government's most important role is to defend the country, but there's LOTS of room for cuts in the military budget. My first 2 would be to remove troops from Germany and Japan. I can understand disagreeing with him on Foreign Policy (I do think we should have some involvement in protecting our interests, but I agree with him that all of that action

MM and PB jackpots
It doesn't matter how fast or slow it rolls. What matters is the odds and how much goes towards the jackpot from each ticket. The odds are essentially the same for both games, but each PB ticket puts about twice as much money in the jackpot. If you go by the advertised jackpot PB has even more of an advantage, because for every $1 in the jackpot MM advertises about $1.37, while PB advertises about $1.60. On average they should both sell the same number of tickets (175 million)before producing

Piaceri, you make a lot of good points. I think the mortgage market would do JUST FINE with out the deduction. Very few people buy a house for the deduction anymore. You buy a house because you need/want a place to live. Remember CASH FOR CLUNKERS, they said once that stopped people would stop buying cars, now look - record profits (and by the way its nice to see) I think it is time to at least TRY some form of a flat tax. It is nice to at least hear the candidates talking about it, that is t

powerball ripoff
I really think the reason for the change is because both big games are available in almost all states now, and before the change they were basically the same game. MUSL does't make more money, directly, due to the increased ticket price. MUSL and the states make more money if there's more revenue, but if you don't want to pay the higher price, Mega Millions has a history of even bigger jackpots (and higher cash values). It isn't a scam or a ripoff; it's simply a different game offered to give va

Lottery Porn Forum/or/ Digits Gone Wild... LOL
Thank you garyo ... your inner compass must have been trying to point you at that00 stat today. Too bad we can't have a bad boy's hall of fame ......Record holders from each state .....I bet that would have some really ugly stats going back for all game history. Thank goodness ...this is not normal average behavior or we would never be able to track these things. Don't try this at home. LOL These things are ABBY Normal Abby NORMAL

Powerball at $2.00 - Does this change cut in to your budget more?
Before Powerball went to $2, I used to play exactly one ticket for a draw IF the single millions digit of the advertised jackpot matched the ones digit of any of the three or four days leading up to the draw (for instance, if either Sunday, yesterday, today, or tomorrow ended in 0 , I would play tomorrow's draw) OR if the draw in the current run is at or past the draw number in the previous run when the jackpot was hit (for instance, the last Powerball jackpot was hit on the 10th draw, while tom
