NEW POLL: Have any of you met a lottery winner?
Yes, 1, Playing Lo-Ball in a Ca Card Parlor. He seem to have his act togather. He took annual payments +$400,000. The only money he spent out of the first check was to pay-off his home. He and his wife were planning on working for 5 years and banking those checks, then retire. Guessing his age, I would say, early thirties.

a rumor...don imus to join a state lottery for work
I also think many celebrities continue to work way past the age of retirement because they love living and they know that they'll likely die soon after they stop doing what they love to do. Haven't you ever heard of the guy/gal who diligently worked for a given company or served in the military 20 or 30 years only to die within the first year of retirement? That is why I say I will never retire...but I also don't plan to HAVE to work just to make a living...I merely plan to continue workin

Rebecca Paul Hargrove: Former newswoman cashes in on lottery career
I too think Becca is doing a good job. I'm going to hate to see her retire in about 5 years or so. With those checks you know she's going to get out soon!

Lotteries long for 'jackpot fever'
I agree. The big jackpot lotteries have such ridiculously long odds that more than a buck or two on them isn't worth it, no matter what the jackpot amount is.....besides, I don't need a hundred million dollars to retire and live confortably. A couple of million pre-tax would be plenty. I don't have a desire to be that extravagant.

Friends Dad hit NH megabucks
I hope now he's trying to hit Hot Lotto, which is at a record $14+ million. Someday all three states should retire TSM and go with HL.

Canadian woman wins lotto twice
Maybe she will be one of those retirees who retire by continously taking cruises. I would do that if I won at her age. Annunities can be passed on to benficiaries, maybe her only son is a spendthrift so she chose annuities. I just love to speculate!!

How has a lottery win changed your life?
Last night was a very good night for Chaos55 ......not the retirement kind of night, not 2nd or 3rd prize but it was darn close and that is as much information as I am gonna give. One digit on one set of numbers stood between me and $250,000........and on another set of numbers one digit stood between me and $10,000. Combine those two numbers and a cool $12 mill to buy some airline tickets.....but as we all know...close doesn't count....what count is the reality. .....and you can't retire on a

Wisconsin factory workers win $208M Powerball lottery
Sorry I come off as confusing. I'll try again using your example.
Two people win. Two winning tickets. The prize if $20 million - I assume you mean $20 million annuity here. Let's call the cash $9 million - the amount that the lottery actually has on the day of the win. chuck32
Chuck, that wasn't the subject at all. I can't speak for Coin Toss or anyone else here, but from my point of view we were all talking about the Wisconsin winners, right? There was only ONE winning ticket. I

MM Megaplier
Florida was set to join PB in 1999 as the previous governor approved it. But Jeb Bush said no. Fortunately he will retire this winter due to term limits.
