Major claim deadline approaching for Illinois lottery winner of $1.337 billion Mega Millions jackpot
Wonder how many states require players to choose annual payments vs annuity? Time this was shelved and let them decide when claiming the prize. Maybe 15 years ago or so when you purchased a ticket for the big boys in KY you had to decide right then and there which route you wanted. Glad they got rid of that...maybe the advent of self service machines years later dictated this needed to go?

I don't understand how they figure the new amount being added to the Jackpot each draw. They only increased by $70,000, yet if one calculates the possible ticket sales for the Sat. draw for standard $2 tickets and $3 tickets, it appears they sold about 450,000 $2 tickets and 163,000 $3 tickets for a take of $1,389,000. Of this they paid out a total of $263,112 for prizes won. $1,389,000 minus $263,112 minus $70,000 = $1,055,888 left over. Where does all of this money go? I always thought in the

One Illinois lottery ticket wins $1.337 billion Mega Millions jackpot
It is what it is. I do agree with you in one sense. Not only lottery, the e-commerce sites too. I feel what people need to do is a spreadsheet and expenses. Reasons being when you need a lawyer, accountant and financial planner. I don't get it when they say someone might take the annuity. I see different ways but it depends on the persons lifestyle.

$790 MILLION: Fourth-largest lottery jackpot in history to be drawn Tuesday
cash option of $487.9 million That's the same cash:annuity ratio as the original 464.4/790 they advertised to start. Makes me wonder whether the cash value announced for 810 was a mistake.

$630 MILLION: Mega Millions jackpot soars after no winner Tuesday
The last time we saw a billion dollar jackpot (1/26/21) advertising 625 sold almost exactly the same number of tickets as this run sold at 630/660. It rolled to 750, 825 and 1.05 billion. The current higher annuity:cash ratio would make that progression about 782 and 875. There's no way this one gets to 900 without another roll unless people get a lot more enthusiastic than they were 18 months ago.

$630 MILLION: Mega Millions jackpot soars after no winner Tuesday
If it rolls it starts at 790, or 464.4 cash if the ratio stays the same. That would be the 4th largest annuity, with about zero chance of moving up to #3 $1.05 billion) without a roll. It would start as the #9 cash value, with a pretty good chance of moving up. The same 30 million bump we got for this one would push it to 481.8, barely passing the current #6.

Why isn't there a choice to split the Lump sum and the Annuity?
You can do that now: Buy two tickets with the same numbers and select Annuity on one and Cash on the other. Of course Playing that way will Cost you a few Bucks!

Did Michigan increase Cash Payouts?
Looks like the new amount in Michigan is about $693,706 (+/- $1) Cash for the $1,000,000 annuity prizes. It seems the change took place sometime on or after 12/01/21

Oregon Megabucks 2022
Well I had no numbers on two-$2 tickets with kicker for a $4 expenditure so no prize tonight and the jackpot for Monday night is going to be $8.4 million annuity and $4.2 million cash option. Now last week I spent $24 on one drawing to only get five rows of two numbers or less so I think that it comes down to luck if you win at all. So I will be playing just my two-$1 QP's with kicker for $2 for $4 worth or a $5 ticket but no more than $5 to see if I can win this jackpot. I am not spending more

N.C. man wins two $25,000 a year for life prizes after accidentally playing same numbers twice
I think I wouldhave taken (1) in lump sum, the other in annuity. Would always have something to fall back on.
