Lottery supporters in Nevada try again
Pumpi, you've said you live in Panama, so I'll just assume you've never traveled through Nevada. You keep writing that Las Vegas is the only place where people gamble. Since nobody else has responded to that comment, I will. Pumpi, that just is not true!
Gambling is legal in Nevada, not just Las Vegas. I won't list all the towns that have gambling, of course, since there are too many, but you can travel just about anywhere in Nevada to gamble. I mean, you don't have to go to a busy tourist pl

Internet Gambling and the Presidential Race
I did not and would not vote for Ralph we should all live in a bubble to be safe Nader, nor would I have voted for Bush the first time around (just as I didn't the second time either) but I sure as hell wouldn't vote for Al Gore or John Kerry. Ralph Nader is going to be a huge non-factor this time around since most of his followers have either grown up or have a new favorite in Obama. Personally, I would love to see what would have happened in those first four years if Al Gore would have won, ma

Im Going Green When I Hit Powerball
Everyone always thinks of oil as just the thing that goes in the gas tank and in their car's engine.
The thing that most people don't realize is that oil is an essential ingredient in almost everything they own, from their clothing to every piece of plastic to .... well, everything. If you took oil out of the equation, you would have almost nothing.
I'm not trying to say that it's a bad goal of replacing gas-burning car engines; in fact I think it's a really good goal that I hope we achiev

Tenn. lawmakers trying to force lottery to switch back to real draws
I, for one, am pleased to find there are a few honest elected officials within our state government. These people have the best interests of all Tennesseans in the forefront of their minds. Thanks for your efforts in bringing back the balls.
I always said, beginning the moment Steve Cohen introduced legislation to bring a lottory to Tennessee, that Tennessee will get a lottory the moment policticians find a way to skim money from it. Once we got the lottory I have waited for the s

Should PB MM be tax-free/lump sum
Yes lottery winnings should be completely tax free and all federal taxes should be replaced with the Fair Tax, food and drugs exempt so the government can quit playing the pea shuffle game with tax money.
Excellent way to capture under the radar taxes currently being uncollected.

The worst kind of lottery just over the horizon!!
His legislation will never pass for the very reason of part of his rationale for introducing it.
He has said that if there is a draft it will Prevent wars from occuring like this one. Because, he said, those in power like the Congress, will have their sons and daughters being forced to go into the military, where now they get instead to go to high-priced fancy universities.
The thing is, this didn't work during Nam. Those with connections either didn't have to go into service and avoid

The worst kind of lottery just over the horizon!!
Well, here we go!! Charlie Wrangle, Democrat from New York, will introduce legislation in the next few days to reinstate the draft. All you folks so excited about a change in politics, you ought to really like this one. Now we can have a half-as#$d military. Now young kids can be dragged in to serve who do not want to and that is what the results will be a do not want to military.
This is how the new order wants to protect us. Here we got people all over the earth wanting to killl us all

The Gambling Bill - Any chance of turning it around?
Floridian,
That was a good, thoughtful post. Unfortunately there is not a single Democrat or Republican president who would have vetoed that bill. (For many reasons.) Maybe a Libertarian would have, but there's not much of a chance of getting a preisdent like that in the WH.
Online gambling will never be the same again. Even if there were some kind of bill passed overturning this bill, they would never give up the chance to put some kind of government oversight, or something similar, t

Male nurse wins record German lottery jackpot
The biggest jackpot in the history of Germany's national lottery went to a male nurse.
A 41-year-old male hospital nurse who is the father of three children, organizers said Tuesday, three days after the winning number was drawn. The man had phoned the West Lotto company from the hospital in the western Westphalia region during the morning, but asked that his name not be published.
