Clerk tricks lotto winner, pockets money
In Oregon the self scanners only show if the ticket is a winner - ya gotta go see the clerk to find out how much - and any scanner will say if a ticket is a winner but for any ticket worth over $600 if you try to get it validated at a store other than the one you purchased it at ... the validation machine comes back with something like not verifiable at this location . Apparently clerks in Oregon are not required to tell the customer they need to go to the store where they purchased the ticket

What would you do in this situation?
There is no cancel ticket option so apparently every ticket sold is a valid ticket and somebody has to pay for it. Had I asked for 5 QPs but didn't like the combos, I would still had to pay for them.
I used a bet slip and there were no marks on number of draws and machine printed out for the next 10 draws. It was an error by the clerk and hope she got some of her money back.

Is this true?
I don't think the betslips have much credence. It's the ticket that counts. Now if you're talking about counterfeiting the ticket, then yes, but i don't think the betslip matters.
As long as the machine can read the choices on the betslip, it's fine. I don't know for a fact, just basic reasoning here...lol

Man charged in lottery ticket theft case
God bless those fools who say they trust the clerk and just hand over a bunch of lottery tickets to be checked (there have been a few jackpot and second tier winners who said that), but this just goes to show that when you play, you should check what the winning numbers are yourself...via the 800 lottery hotline for your state, the lottery website, the newspaper (if you still subscribe or buy...but it could have typos or errors so still do one of the previous two), or getting a printout of the w

Tenn. Lottery introduces new raffle game
There is know way the odd's can be 1 in 200.000 .The odd's would be how many tickets you bought,if you buy 50 tickets, your odds are 50 chances in 800.000 the next drawing it would be 50 chances in 799.999 an so on.The way some people want you to belive is once the drawing start's,after the first ticket number is drawn, the odds would be one every 200.000,which makes no sence. If the lottery sold different blocks of tickets, say 200.000 an they were only giving away one prize of a million dollars.Th

Lottery Terminal, Technical Question
Thanks, Lottolaughs. I wasn't sure if it was because she was unfamiliar with the operation of the machine or it just shut down. It didn't make sense to me that information was being processed during the time someone might be buying a ticket, but I've never worked at a place with a lottery terminal so I haven't a clue. Tonight I got my personal numbers, but had this taken place on a Wed or Sat instead of Tue, I would have driven to another location. I haven't missed a Lotto drawing in 12 years

Thank you Delores.
I am so sick because because I had it on my ticket and went to retailer there was two people ahead of me and when I got there at the counter, the cashier couldn't get my ticket in the machine because it wasn't working and I didn't have time to go to another store! My bad.

i was just thinking about this.
......check your ticket,............you won the lottery........since the lottery is random did you become a millionaire the second you got your ticket or the second the last number came out of the machine?
Neither, until the ticket is verified as the winning ticket and you exchange it for some money, you are just a lottery player with a ticket and if you do nothing that is all you will ever be..

i was just thinking about this.
OK say you are a person who just plays the lottery when the jackpot gets over a certain amount (lets say $150 million) and so you go to the liquor store and get a $5.00 QP and put the ticket in your wallet or purse and you just forget about it. Then some days later you hear that someone won the jackpot in your city, and then you hear that it was at the liquor store you bought your ticket at, so you look in the newspaper and check your ticket, and to your disbelief you won the lottery. Now here i

Having a lottery machine: Now that's the ticket
Critics raise questions as retailers play by the rules and win scores of jackpotsNew Jersey's 10 most frequent winners of lottery jackpots have one thing in common: Luck. But five of those top 10 winners have something else going for them: A store that sells lottery tickets. We play, we win, explained Mahendra Vora, standing behind the counter of Everything Nice, a stationery store on Bergenline Avenue in West New York that he owns with his wife, Sudha.Together, the lucky couple has claimed 175
