Quote: Originally posted by RJOh on December 27, 2002 Mr. Whittaker has stated that he was only interested in the lotteries when the jackpots reached $100M or more and he bought a $100 worth of QP tickets. That seems pretty simple to me, hardly worth putting in a book. By the way I bought $42 worth of tickets so I missed buying a jackpot ticket by $58, next time I will know better.RJOhRJ,It's interesting you should bring that up because I think of the previous Big Game $363 Mil winners also s

42 Chances at Powerball $39
Quote: Originally posted by RJOh on December 24, 2002 I agree with CASH Only. If you use the extra dollar to play powerplay your overall odds of having a winning ticket remains at 1:36, but you can double your winnings or better. However if you buy another ticket you odds of having a winning ticket changes to 1:18 and powerplay only counts if you win something.RJOhRJ,You are right about the overall odds, however if you buy 84 $1 PB tickets you are only guaranteed to win at least $6 back. our chances are NIL
The nice thing about the Internet is that you can be anything or anybody that you can convince people you are.The nice thing about the lotteries is that poor or rich, smart of dumb, red, white or blue or what ever you can play and have the same chance to win as anyone else. If you are dumb and poor , the smart and rich may have an edge when it comes to getting a good job, buying a car or a house, but when they are playing the lottery their dollar is worth no more the dollar of a dumb or poor p

Megamillions picks 12/24/02
To Bug,I seen that formula before. A year ago, when I also was trying to figure out the odds of winning, I put that and some other information in a GWBasic program which I just plug the combination size, the size of the number pool, if there is a bonus ball, the bonus ball and its pool size or if the bonus ball (as in Ohio649P) shares the same pool as the other numbers and it gives me my answer. I have checked that program against any information I've seen and it always with in 1 number. I t

42 Chances at Powerball $39
Quote: Originally posted by RJOh on December 23, 2002 If 42 chances were such a bargain, then maybe 84 chances might be an even better deal.RJOhWell if you are going to spend $84 I would just activate the Power Play on 42 tickets. I know CASH Only doesn't agree with me, but I'd just kick myself (no matter what the jackpot size is) if I didn't have the Power Play ON and I hit 5 out of 6. Especially now that you are guaranteed to double your money.Although, you also might want to save some money f

72 win $100,000
The Powerball website posted the numbers of winners in each prize level and there were 72 winners of $100,000. I added up the numbers of total winners which included my two small winnings and there were a total of 90,214,740. With odds of 1:36 of having a combination that wins something, probably over 120,000,000 combinations were sold. For Saturday drawing, I played 42 combinations that included all 42 bonus balls and matched 3 for $7 and a bonus ball for $3, now some of my associates want i

42 Chances at Powerball $39
I didn't win but as expected I matched the power ball for $3. I also matched 3 of 5 no PB for $7, so 42 chances will have costed me $32. That the cheapest shot I've ever had at a $200M jackpot, so I may try it again if I ever get the chance. I thought about doing the same thing with Megamillion, but 52 chances for $50 just don't sound as attractive. I'll probably run some simulations on lower jackpots and if I get lucky enough time, I may try it when the MM jackpot reaches $200M. RJOh

Close Encounter guys!!
What is this talk about heirs, if you have something to give to your relatives or friends, you can give it to them while you are living. I don't know of anyone who plays the lotteries to have money to share with their friends, relatives or charity, but the first question most reporters ask of a winner is how much they are going to give to their friends, relatives and charity. The way I look at it, If you don't ask your friends, relatives or charity for money to play the lotteries and you ever

Close Encounter guys!!
With a jackpot of $160M, the cash value is $86.5M and I wonder how many young people who would be investing to have an income for the next 30 or more years would have any idea how to manage that much money. You could seek the advice of a professional, but there are a lot of professionals that expect a large fees even if they are losing your money and giving you bad advice , just look at the high paid leaders of Eron and other companies that are now going bankrupt, the stock analyizers that made
