Pool players ponder Powerball hypocrisy
there's a big difference between a pool tourney and a 5 dollar pool game. In a tourney the 1st and 2nd place winners receive there cut of the pot. After the last game is played and usually there's a trophy involved also. In a regular pool game if they were passing money across the table or to one another after each individual game then they were gambling and that's a no no especially in front of the police.

Cash or annuity ?
I thought I'd throw this in because of personal experience - if you're part of a pool buying tickets, such as an office pool, sometimes the choice is made for you. Everyone seems enthralled by the well-publicized annuity amount, so if the pool won (haven't experienced that part yet) everyone else would probably want the annuity amount. plnwebguy

Online Lottery Pool
My initial response would be a resounding NO. If the pool were properly organized, however, I might reconsider.I've been a member of these pools before, but they were very informal. Consequently, the rules changed from week to week, and no one got paid. One of them did very well. We used a system which covered every number in the field ten times for $80.00. We hit four numbers almost every draw, and hit five numbers twice in two months. Rather than split any money we won though, the man

How much would you pay?
At the local tavern-ackle where I buy my lottery tickets they had such a pool 20 people each put 20 dollars in for last Fridays MM. quick picks were purchased. I was asked to join in on the fun and passed saying I had a better chance with my picks because I back tracked the MM game and selected my numbers based on past draws etc. They won $11.00 in the pool. I won $10.00 on one of my picks and $2.00 on another. I spent 30 dollars they spent $400.00 Now the questions presents itself in another ma

How much would you pay?
In the last PowerBall drawing, there were 1,196,961 tickets that won something. With overall odds of 1:36 of winning something, that means that 43 millions tickets were sold and nobody won the jackpot. If a pool that bought $43M worth of tickets couldn't win, what are the odds that a pool with $500 will do any better? When ever anyone buys a lottery ticket they are in a pool with everybody else that buys a ticket and if they won the jackpot and shared it with the rest of the pool, their ticket
