Lottery firm fined $1.4 million over security breaches
The Washington, D.C. government has fined the company that runs the D.C. Lottery $1.4 million for security breaches, a decision that could reignite a debate over selecting the next contractor to operate the city's gaming industry.
In a letter to Lottery Technology Enterprises, District contracting officer Eric W. Payne said the company failed to conduct proper oversight of its employees, allowing $72,855 in payouts to fraudulent winners and $86,166 in stolen tickets in 2005 and 2006.

Dont you think kids should have their own Lotto or Sweepstakes..
I think history is very important, so the Great Depression is certainly a period that every student needs to learn about in American History class. However, I'm not sure listening to my parents talk about standing in bread lines and wearing cardboard in their shoes to cover the holes did me much good. I mean, if I say to a 12 year old What do you mean you want a widescreen HDTV? When I was a kid we didn't even have color television it doesn't mean much, since technology has changed. Having your

I want to get a gps system to use in my car for my trip. I have looked at Tom-Toms and Garmins..there are so many that I am confused and don't know what to try to get. I would like to be able to use the bluetooth feature but alas, I don't own a cell phone and I really don't know which one of those is the best to get, either. I have looked at Verizon but it seems to be too costly for me and I have looked at T-Mobile but don't understand some of their pricing features. If anyone knows ANYTHING..pl

Automated Machines- the hazard
As a faithful beleiver that technology is the wave of today, I chose to use one of the automated machines to buy my lottery tickets. Waiting in line behind a guy who spews out 80 numbers in certain order is not my cup of tea. So over I go to the machine, place in my well earned 20$ and start playing my numbers. THe first 5$ batch comes out fine. I decide to get my second 5$ mix of tickets and the dispenser jams. I patiently wait for the cashier to find the keys that are somewhere on property. Sh

important question
I beleive it was illegal to photocopy currency at one time. When the technology was new, the ability of machines to distinguish real currency from photcopies wasn't very good, so photocopies could be used in many machines. The ability to easily make realistic looking counterfeit currenct is obviously something the government has a lot of interest in. Shortly after the first batch of new and supposedly hard-to-counterfeit bills came out a while back it took only a few weeks or so before some teen
