Lottery Desperation
I agree that they're worried about the drop in sales.. What business wouldn't? But why does it seem you and others are giving PB,MM a free pass to abuse the pre-existing rules of the game..? If a grocery store's sell of Bread drops, .. they discount the item to move it.. They tend not to sell it at the same high price.! Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't anybody remember why the price of PB,MM tickets went from $1. to $2.? It was to SUPPORT THE HIGHER STARTING JACKPOTS of $40 Mill

WI Badger 5 - 4/15/20
Yeah once the jackpot gets close to its own odds (I think its 1:169, xxx) its usually won - although I do remember awhile go when it went to around $200+ something - none of my QP's were even close I wonder, for all the jackpots won (SuperCash, Megabucks, Badger 5, All or Nothing) in WI - how many of the winning tickets were Quick Picks vs selected numbers?

Kentucky Lottery now using computerized drawings
California is just as bad. If they could swing the MM PB jackpots to computerized games, they would. Every game, except for scratchers is computerized. What's with the fascination? Just you wait till another Eddie Tipton makes he's move while this bread is still baking, then you will hear We thought the games were safe.

Update: Every US state lottery's COVID-19 response
Once again New York robs its citizens. -New York has the highest tax rate in the nation on lottery winnings. on April 3, NY will reset to a guaranteed annuitized value of $20 million for the next drawing on April 7. Subsequent starting jackpots and the rate at which the jackpot increases will be established based on game sales and interest rates, with no fixed minimum amount. These will be determined and announced prior to each drawing. Previously, the jackpot started at $40 million, and the min

Mega Millions to adjust starting jackpot amount, eliminate minimum increases
Ok,.. So it's obvious again, that you don't SEE the difference in $40 Million, vs $20 Million reset jackpots.. but still at $2. per ticket..that's THEIR deal. We know that the increases has always reflected ticket sales from draw to draw..!! Oh and here's a suggestion!!... If you win a MM or PB jackpot, ..allow me to be your Financial Advisor..!!

Mega Millions to adjust starting jackpot amount, eliminate minimum increases
Don't see any deals MM or PB are asking players to accept by lowering their estimated jackpots. Especially considering almost every jackpot winner takes the cash. Basically you're complaining about something that could effect hardly any lottery players. Now if they lower the secondary prize payoffs........But that didn't happen.

Mega Millions to adjust starting jackpot amount, eliminate minimum increases
You can check the draw sales report on Tx Lottery's website. Over the past 6 draws sales have ranged from about 377K to a little over 400K. So, sales haven't been above normal. When jackpots get to 500K and more is when sales really jump. As for me, I never miss buying a ticket.

Powerball to lower jackpot starting point and increases due to plunge in sales
Exactly. If they didn't lower the jackpots, they would probably go broke. This is an act of god, an unforeseeable event. They have to do whatever they need to in order to stay in business. I'll keep playing till this jackpot is won. After that, I'll still play my regular line of numbers, but I'll have to decide at that time whether to play any quick picks with the lower jackpot.

Just curious on the MM/PB jackpots
Historically, somewhere in the low .6 range seems pretty common over the last few years, but there's been wide variation over the years. Just looking at the Wikipedia article on record jackpots the lowest ratio I found is an August 2007 PB jackpot. The cash value was $146 million, and the annuity was 314.3 million, for a ratio of just 46.45%. Flipped the other way around, the annuity paid out 215% of the cash value. Recently the cash had been hovering around the high 60% range, and only climb
