California delivery driver claims half of $648 million jackpot
Off the top, I can think of two very logical reason why currently taking the cash is better decision in California. They have no state tax on lottery winnings, but that could change. Currently it's 12.3% of income over $691,000 that a lottery winner must pay if the legislators created tax on lottery winnings. Any financial planner understands in the next 30 years the current interest rate can only go up and not advise locking into the tiny rate the annuity is now offering. Solid logical reaso

The Lottery Changed My Life Mini Marathon On Now!
Watching the last show right now. I didnt really watch the Ficks but flipping channels came back right to the part of the toilet, lol. And then the son playing Ninja warrior, so very hard to watch that son. I liked the Oregon winner. still shops at Goodwill and paying it forward. All the time watching I just realzed if two people are listed on the winning ticket, one can opt for the cash and one for the annuity which I think would be great

MEGA MILLIONS JACKPOT SOARS TO $636 MILLION
The excess wasn't enough to prompt an increase so the winners will split the advertised amount ($636 mill annuity, $341.2 mill cash). After reading a few post-draw comments made by the MM director, I can tell that the lottery is disappointed for not even topping the previous matrix record.

MEGA MILLIONS JACKPOT SOARS TO $636 MILLION
336,545,306 Mega Millions tickets were sold tonight Assuming that's the correct total for tonight's drawing, the final tally is probably a bit shy of $350 million cash, and around 648 for the annuity value. They won't even get to claim a new fake record on this one.

MEGA MILLIONS JACKPOT SOARS TO $636 MILLION
Well let's hope so, otherwise it would suck that they completely changed the matrix to make it harder to win and to guarantee larger JPs only to fall short of a JP amount set when people stood a better chance of winning. They aren't going to break any cash value records with this one, but after all of this, they had at least better break the annuity record.

What if the Mega Millions reach to $2.0 Billion jackpot?
1. I'd go for the annuity option. Actually at $800m I'd go for it. 2. I'd boycott MM if they put a cap on the prize.

MEGA MILLIONS JACKPOT SOARS TO $636 MILLION
Someone's math is off. After Uncle Sam takes his unfair share, you will have about 33% (more or less) of the ANNUITY amount, but you will have 60% of the CASH LUMP SUM amount. Uncle Sam maxes out at 39.6. A good tax attorney will make your share larger, but a state tax will take their unfair share, too, if you live in one of THOSE states.

$586 MILLION: Mega Millions jackpot climbs toward a new record
If there is no winner tonight, Friday's Mega Millions jackpot will start at $950 million annuity with $510 (?) million cash. Good luck.

Mega Millions odds 1:259 Million, almost half already used up..
I agree, Metro. At the current CV/JP ratio (which has been advertised at a consistent 53-54% since the annuity change), JP value would have to exceed $872 mil to break the $471 mil CV record. That's a far reach from where we're at. In the event of a single ticket winner, Gloria's $370.9 mil record would be broken at $687 mil. Also a stretch, but a Wee, record JP! frenzy might pull it off.

$400 MILLION: Massive Mega Millions lottery jackpot set for Friday
With this amount of money, I think I'd lean towards the annuity as well. With a few years's practice I'm sure I'd get the hang of big money management. Besides, I just couldn't see forfiting $128 Million over the 30 years to get $151 Million today..........but that's just me Dreamer,
