Georgia lottery winner starts off new year by claiming $983 million Mega Millions jackpot
That idea would partially work in theory... But, what about the tax on the profits...? You'd pay the tax on both the initial income and the investment income at the 2026 tax rate rate, assuming the investment income also becomes taxable in 2026. You can't avoid paying the tax, but sometimes you can pay at a lower rate. And while 2026 federal rates have been announced I believe it's still possible for congress to lower (or raise) tax rates. If the highest rate was reduced to 36% then the

About those NC Digital Online Games...What's the verdict?
I checked this out. They operate like multi-line video slot machines. For $100, you can bet 50 cents a spin and play for hours. The purpose is to burn time. It is possible to win, but it's unlikely because of the low variance. You're grinding your money down, giving the house an average of 12% of your bet, over and over and over. Technically the NC digital games are not slot machines. They are scratch-off tickets. I looked at one and it has 2,000,000 tickets, of which one is the jackpot.

would you rather win 1, 10, 50, 100, or 500 million $
Sudden wealth, no matter how big it is or isn't, has caused more problems than it has ever fixed. I voted for 10 million, but I don't really know if that's the right amount for me or not. Riches are something I've never had the pleasure of enjoying and I have zero experience managing large sums of money, so I'll badly need lawyers as well as other finance pros if I'm ever so lucky. Other than Send lawyers, guns and money, that's the best answer I could possibly tell you. G5

Florida: 12/1 - 12/31/2025
It's Florida - using different machines, different ball sets, running practice draws before final televised draw, etc. Just crazy. I have looked at it so many ways, so is it truly the odds or do pairs/numbers repeat? Last month as an example, Mid 17th-19th - 137, 013, 307 then eve 19th-22nd - 137, 314, 311, 237. So you have to wonder...same ball set? New ball set? These are the things that keep me up at night LOL. And just when you think you are on to something they throw you a curve ball. Here'

Who are you going to tell after you win the monday's powerball jackpot.
I would definitely choose another attorney. This is first year law school info he should know. Of course he recommends a blind trust...so he can control your investments and you have no input. I know some winners may want this but it is potentially dangerous with very unsophisticated winners. It is time consuming and court approval can sometimes be needed to undue both blind trusts and irrevocable trusts. Your first goal is to allow your attorney to claim the money on your behalf with a revo

Lottery Numbers Aren't Meant To Be Random
Okay, then please explain to me how running a ball machine six times destroys any pattern it might have had. I would like to know the physics behind that. After all, if it had a pattern going, why not just extrapolate your pattern 7 drawings out? There really is no reason to believe that a mechanical ball drawing machine isn't random, but you seem convinced otherwise. I would like to know what your reasoning is (something besides it just is or well obviously , something concrete, with physics).

$1.1 BILLION: Powerball jackpot increased in longest-ever winless streak
Yes, that would be much simpler and fairer. Taxes should be built into the price of the ticket, although I understand each state has different taxes and you wouldn't have a flat ticket price. Let's be honest, unless you take the actual cash and stuff it in a mattress, the winnings will be spent or invested and thus taxed at every stage - profits, dividends, interest, stamp duties, sales taxes etc etc etc. Here in Australia our Powerball jackpots are obviously much lower given our population

"Let me borrow a dollar", turns into $500-15,000 win.
If I was the borrower/winner and the person who loaned me the money said, Just give it back if I need something , I would repay them anyway. If I was the person loaning the money, at my best, i'd have no expectations. If they paid me back, fine. If not, it wouldn't matter to me.
