Ohio Classic Lotto (6/49) at $16.6M/$8.3M cash
I think it's the same as other lotteries where the annuity is funded based on cash amount. And since payments 2-30 are equal and not graduated, they can invest at a constant rate. $25.55 million invested at 3.333...% for 30 years gives the full $51.1 million. I would play both. Wish I lived closer to Ohio, I would be all over those games

Florida man wins multimillion lottery jackpot for 2nd time
Thanks Todd. This is a super cool story for that reason ... If he was playing only one row of self-picked numbers every drawing, it wasn't too expensive of an investment. This man won the same on-line game, TWICE, within ONE year! Both times, at the SAME VENDOR, choosing his numbers each win ... I wonder if he was momentarily given a 'lotto tilted clairvoyance', or if he has some VERY strong thinker fans nearby him, or what! WOW!!! Maybe the annuity with this smaller jackpot is a game/challenge

Ohio Classic Lotto (6/49) at $16.6M/$8.3M cash
Ohio probably prefer its jackpot winners take the cash 'cause it takes more than half the jackpot amount to fund an annuity that would pay out that amount in 30 years. If I ever win I might fool them.

Tickets for updated Mega Millions game on sale Saturday
Good bye old mega millions... how i will miss you. I think that the 5 of 5 prize is awesome the chance of winning 5 million dollars for only 2 dollars is amazing. In my home state you have to pay 25.00 to play to win 5 million and it is annuity. in Georgia, my other money pit... you pay 20.00 to win 5 million cash... i think i will save my 20.00 and purchase 10 tickets with multiplier... one for each of the next 10 draws... people piss and moan because the odds but truthfully they are all hard t

Ohio Classic Lotto (6/49) at $16.6M/$8.3M cash
Although $48.6M/$24.3M cash is not a large jackpot compared to those of PM and MM, a 30yr $48.6M annuity works out to over $31K a wk for the next 30 yrs. Before I retired if I made twice that much in a year, that was a good year. Since the odds of winning it are about 1/12 those of PB and MM, I can't see it rolling much longer before someone hits it.

Lottery winner sues advisors for poor policies
The fee based financial advisors are really trying their very best to disparage those that are compensated a percentage of assets under management and commission. Everyone actually needs services of a financial planner or advisor, but how many middle income families can pony up $1,000 or $2,000 for a financial plan? When I win the big jackpot that I fully know the odds are I may never win, I will continue to invest with same brokerage firm I have done so for past decade. Also, for those who are

Anyone ever won " win cash for life scrach off ticket " ?
Yes, there is a discrepency which is basically my point. Here in my state they will advertise games as for life but they are not lifetime annuities. People assume for life is synonymous with a lifetime annuity, but you have to read the fine print. On another note, I have noticed that my state has started putting the asterisks and fine print on the front of the ticket; I imagine this has something to do with the popularity of these for life games and a number of complaints by players.

What do you say to people, who don't play the lottery, but want you to cut them a check if you win.
I'm sorry Mom, but I know you wouldn't want to encourage my irresponsible lottery playing ways. Okay, I'd get her an annuity or something, but there would be a leeeetle nose rubbing first. After the various lectures on money wasted I've sat through over the years... She never likes it when I point out she spends more on soda a week than I do the numbers though.
