What kind of STOCKS would you invest in?
If you won a MM or PB jackpot? I know we all would invest in a house and other real estate, maybe some collectibles but what manner of stocks, bonds and mutual funds would you invest in?
I read an interview with Brad Duke, who won (at the time) the record jackpot for Powerball. I think it was $220 million and he got about $85 after the payout and taxes. He invested something like 60% in low-risk ventures such as municipal bonds and 30% in high-risk, high-payout ventures like Big Oil (This was

What would you do if you had to share your jackpot?
Would you be angry? Suppose the jackpot was $400 million (plausible, considering the record is $390) and you discovered that you won, but so did five or six others.
Or suppose that the lottery numbers from LOST won, and as a result you had to share that jackpot with 100,000 people.
Talk about a nightmare.
I wouldn't mind sharing a jackpot with three or four others but not 100,000. I also would never play the numbers from Lost either.

so when you say "validate" a ticket
Yes, absolutely. They not only check the ticket to make sure it's genuine. They also run a background check on the winner to make certain there aren't any outstanding arrest warrants, liens (tax, etc.), or other judgements (child support). If a person was due to receive $1,000,000 from a state lottery commission but had an IRS lien outstanding for $200,000 on their record, they'd only get a check for $800,000 - with the remainder sent to the IRS.
BTW, and I suspect it's changed, but at one ti

Powerball multi-state lottery game to change rules
Now would be the time to start writing and asking whether they intend to add 4 new balls to the 55 old balls or add 59 new balls. This would determine whether we keep working old records making allowances for the change or start fresh record keeping as we would for a new game.
Anyone who gets a solid answer please post it or supply it to Todd as news. Don't be surprised to get an ambiguous reply, like they don't understand the question, LOL.

The Curse of the Lottery
Jack's problem wasn't the money, it was how he put himself out there on display and choices he made.. I'm willing to wager he didn't develop his bad habits as a result of winning either. To me he's always come off as one of those character good ol'boy types who love attention. It's like blaming the gun in your hand for killing someone when you picked it up and pulled the trigger. I would love to be cursed with winning a jackpot, especially a record breaking one as his was.
Also didn't stop

North Carolina 8/1 - 8/31
If I want to win tonight I'm thinking maybe I had better play all of them....lol
But hate to go back on my word of playing only 5 or 6........the thing is I don't know which 5 or 6 to pick out......your record is fantastic but I would surely pick the wrong ones.......and Raven did you realize your inbox is full?
Thanks and good luck to you and all.

I can get closer to a win doing just all ODD/Evens
Oh , I think I understand where you are coming from justxploring . If, I read this correctly .....
Based on your experience and win record your saying ...
If you get 4 out of 5 numbers right in the Fantasy-5 (Florida) you win $80-100 bucks .....but, if you don't get all 5 of the numbers correct then you can not win the whole enchilada. You can win a little money if you get a few numbers, but that's not even close to winning the whole enchilada.
I understand.

Lottery Taxes
I do not know the full ramifications of the gift tax but I do know some items pertaining to your question.
The IRS keeps record of any dollar amount being removed, deposited, and transferred around which is 10,000 and over. I have received large sums of money, more than 10,000 and more than 13,000, from relatives and offshore locations and the bank adds a line to my transfers which says gift on it.
They have know way to tell if you bought a bunch of items and gave them to someone as gifts.
