Mega Millionaire 'Bunky' Bartlett offers advice to winners
Bunky needs to shut the hell up. He's advising people to not take the lump sum, just because he's incapable of controlling his impulses spends money like a drunken sailor? Obviously, ol' Bunky knows nothing about the estate tax trap he's advising people to potentially fall into (where, if the lottery winner dies after a few years, his/her will beneficiaries will have to sell of the majority of the annuity future payments just to pay the estate taxes on the present value of future earnings of the

Mega Millionaire 'Bunky' Bartlett offers advice to winners
Actually his cut of the $330 million jackpot that he split 4-ways was almost $83 million. He took the cash option and after State and Federal taxes he took home $32 million. He may have been an accountant but I highly doubt he had any business sense.
I don't think the annuity would have curbed his spending as he most likely would have borrowed against it or even cashed it in so he could fulfill his dreams.

Anyone else think of this when they see the picture?
And I really don't think you need to take the annuity... just be smart and think about every major purchase for a few days.

$540 MILLION: Mega Millions buying frenzy sparks another jackpot increase
This is almost destined to be at least 600M before it's said and done.
Like always, I'd be going with the cash... Beating the annuity would not be hard nor all that risky... Plus I don't want to be the mercy of a state that I won't be living in and federal government to pay me over the next two and a half decades, I might not even live that long, hell our country might not either.

Do you think a Billion Dollar Mega Millions Jackpot is next if not won Friday?
it annoys me as well. Not only the Lottery shows but the media as well just absolutely love to glorify the jackpots and what you could do with it. Up until a few years ago, jackpot winners were lucky just to net 1/3rd of the annuity prize.
If the MM jackpot rolls this Friday, I'm thinking more in line of 850-900 million (600-640 Cash).

$500 MILLION: Mega Millions sets all-time lottery jackpot record
Here's some irony for you (and I'm not sure if it's regular irony or the Alanis Morissette kind):
The $12 million you mentioned is, of course, the Mega Millions minimum jackpot. If there is a sole winner on Friday and they choose the annuity, they'll clear at least $12 million a year after taxes. Wild!
