Ohio woman buys same lottery ticket as customer in front of her, wins $500,000 prize
Yea that is the only way I can think to 'stop' other players from doing that. It was very arrogant of her to do (1st - come out and tell him she is gonna do it, 2nd BRAG about it after). She didnt even mention in the article anything about wanting to see the customer again to say thanks!

Michigan man wins $6 million on the second lottery ticket he bought this year
So is the top prize in Michigan on all scratch offs the actual amount won? Or is it over a certain amount...? The article about the Ohio player that won the $15 mil top prize but took the cash option was $7.5 mil before taxes,so I guess maybe each state does it differently?

"The Breakfast Club" lottery group claims $842.4 million Powerball jackpot
Congrats, hopefully Michigan doesn't change the rule with Lottery Clubs...the only way to stay anonymous with Mega and Powerball. Glad that Fl lawyer found that loophole, read an article that the Lottery actual went to the State AG to see if it was legal, crazy they want to reveal names over safety....

A Texas Lottery jackpot was "bought" last year, but legislators are pushing wrong solution
This is a very in depth article. Thank you Kate for taking the time to do this.
As a lottery player who plays every single draw for MM and PB and Lucky for Life, sometimes I wonder if everything is above board.
Reading the article and seeing the efforts that the Texas Lottery took to aid the vendor have all the tools in place, I would be heartbroken if they don't lend the same support to a normal 7 Eleven store down the street and at the same rate of speed.
As a human being, I would

D.C. postal worker plans to retire after 30 years with USPS thanks to $1 million lottery prize
I am totally with you on this one. Every time that I see an article that screams One million winner joins the millionaires club am always like, wait a minute, what about taxes? Unless we are talking about a winner in Canada where they don't pay taxes on the lottery.
Looking at the Maryland tax for nonresidents, the winner will pay this on top of the 37% to federal tax.
Non-Maryland residents: 8% state tax withheld
Add'l state taxes due (8.95% final rate)
To give the article some

US Powerball multi-state lottery game expanding to the UK
After reading the article a few more times very carefully here is what I get from the article:
Everything in the article above the following section is yadda, yadda, yadda from the PB Lottery until some solid information (maybe subject to change?) comes along.
US state lotteries and the UK National Lottery will pool funds only for the Powerball jackpot, not lower-tier prizes. Tickets purchased in the UK will contribute the same fixed US dollar amount per play to the jackpot pool as ticke

Arizona Lottery delays expiration date of $12.8 million jackpot-winning ticket in legal battle
It belongs to the store. According to the article, the customer declined the printed ticket and Arizona lottery rules states, that when that happens the retailer gets to keep the ticket, provided he does not resell it.
The Manager, fraudulently purchased the ticket because he knew it was a winner. Who in their right mind would purchase a day old lottery ticket?

Arizona Lottery delays expiration date of $12.8 million jackpot-winning ticket in legal battle
*The report said the owner of the ticket declined it, more like ( forgot ) it at the store. It's why Bank of America is now involved.
* According to the article, the ticket was purchased using a debit card. Seems the purchase was legitimate and Circle K wants the money going to the original purchaser, just not Gawlitza.
