The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
To each his or her own.
Twenty bucks a throw is steep. That's why whenever there's a raffle (which isn't all that often) I cut back on the other lottery games I regularly play. That's what keeps me from over spending my monthly lottery budget.
My thinking is the 20 dollar ticket price is a premium players have to pay for the greatly reduced odds of winning a top prize, not to mention there's a guaranteed jackpot winner(s). Many is the time I've heard a player say about a raffle Players

620,000 Montana Lottery Montana Millionaire raffle tickets sell out in 6 hours
Wow! I remember 20 or so years ago when that happened for the raffles here.
Looking at the games available in Montana I can see why they get so excited.
Good luck to everyone who has tickets!
What's frustrating in my state is they are currently offering the best raffle they have ever had but the tickets aren't selling because all the players see is that they are $50 but either they don't see the raffle is a great deal compared to other games here or they just don't have the disciplin

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
Hi Sum Buddy! Nice to see you posting. It's been a while since I've read a post from you!
I'd going to ask you a couple of questions....
Did you buy your raffle tickets because you felt that you really could or just might actually win one of the top prizes?
Did you buy your tickets because there will be multiple top prize winners on July 2nd?
Or did you buy your tickets for both of the above reasons?
If so, then you're just like almost every other member of The Lottery Pla

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
Update from Florida Lottery: 299435 tickets sold as of 6/4. At 96 days in, that averages to 3119 sold per day. The drawing is 26 days from 6/4, and if sales hold around that average, we are looking at a potential total Raffle sales around 380529.

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
248156 sold as of 05/14, so only six days instead of seven between sales updates. That averages to 2625 sold per day for the past six days. Seventy-five days into Raffle sales, the average sold per day is 3308. If the average stays in this neighborhood for the entire 122 days of sales, we're looking at somewhere around 415,000 tickets sold.

Rising Gas Prices and the Lottery
My next cut would be not to play at all. I am down to $12 a week for PB... that is it, no more pick n games. I will be picking up a pa raffle ticket in november also.

The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
I'm thinking about buying more tickets, but the big question for me is how many would I buy?
I posted above that I won 40 bucks (cash) and I did buy one ticket with that money. I still have the other twenty dollar bill in my wallet, so maybe I'll buy another ticket with that. For now I'm keeping my eye on the raffle just to see what happens. Sales have been slow... about 3600 a day, so if they remain slow that'll have some bearing on whether or not I'll buy more.
I'm a fan of raffles..

Probability of winning with multiple tickets
It is true that the probability of winning the first prize is 1 in 500,000. It is also true that the probability of winning the second prize, assuming you didn't win the first prize, is 1 in 499,999.
The probability of one raffle ticket winning a million dollars is the sum of the probabilities of that raffle ticket winning the first prize OR the second prize OR the third prize OR the fourth prize. One raffle ticket cannot win more than once, which simplifies the calculation a bit.
