MM and PB jackpots
It's when the jackpot has increased by only the minimum amount of $10 million per roll. For instance, the current PB jackpot of $70 million is a guaranteed annuity, because it is on its fourth draw in the current run, and the starting jackpot of $40 million + $10 million for draw #2 + $10 million for draw #3 + $10 million for tomorrow's draw = $70 million. If the jackpot is not won tomorrow night, more than likely, it will roll to only $80 million, since sales are not very strong in terms of num

Mega Millions $241mil Cash or Annuity
Who's to say you can't take the annuity and invest what's left over after each year? Not everyone intends to blow out tens of millions of dollars at once and would need the cash option.
And please don't throw the taxes argument at me; not everyone agrees with it and not everyone even cares.

Good Luck everyone and I have always been an annuity kind of person but with the economy and the way the debt and tax talks are going i am becoming a give me my cash kinda person.

New England states start new lottery game Thursday
Hired financial experts do indeed usually recommend taking the cash. Then they get to charge a fee to play with the money left over after taxes. But if you ask about facts, they can start to sputter. I've read columns by financial experts who forget about taxes and think they can invest the entire cash amount (like the lottery can) or who do the math without knowing that there are annual payments involved (they run spreadsheets inveseting the whole amount for 25 years). This is one area where it

New "Lucky for Life" should there be a lump sum option?
Well stated. I personally like the game because of the much better odd's as well. If I understood the rules correctly, if you are still living after 20
years, LFL will continue paying this annuity until you croak.

New "Lucky for Life" should there be a lump sum option?
My thought is yes. Mainly because they are alienating a large segment of the lottery playing population. If I'm say 75, why would I play this game ? when there are PB and MM, both of which offer lump sum's. I think there should be a lump sum amount of 5million based on the standard 20 year annuity garantee, 65% of which would come up to just under 5mill. What do you guys/gals think?

New England states start new lottery game Thursday
I wonder if any lottery annuity could be sold to places like Peachtree or J.G. Wentworth for a lump sum? Some knowledgeable LP'er should be
responding soon.

2 W.Va. veterans pull off incredible Powerball win worth $14M
With enough digging, some of the game prize caps can be found on a state's website, mileage varying by state.
When they publish the prize cap info with the same enthusiasm as they publich the annuity prize info, then I'll take the It's not their fault ... defense more seriously.

State cuts lottery winner's benefits
She won a $1 million, which is nothing to sneeze at, but do all states offer 20+ year annuities on that little a winning?
I'm pretty sure that if you score a second prize for Powerball ($1 million), they do not offer an annuity, it must be paid as a lump sum.
