Im done with Powerball...
I just realize that I could be putting that extra $10 - $20 towards pick 3 which Ive made more money from. It would be nice but in 7 years of playing Ive probably won less than $100 in Powerball winnings while Ive made enough $ from pick 3 and pick 4 to pay off credit cards, and put a small down payment on a vehicle and trust me its hard enough hitting 1/1000 odds or 1/10000 odds. So unless there's a pool at work I dont see myself putting $5, $10 or $20 towards a 1 in 146 million dollar dream.

Well, again, I think it would be wonderful if they'd take it a step further. There are EIGHT prize levels below the Biggie (5 white balls matching plus the PB matching). Why not take that secondary j/p prize and when the main J/P is hit ... then split it (that secondary j/p) 8 ways equally between the levels (which would come out to 12.5 percent of the secondary prize pool for each prize level below the main, GP level), then in turn, each level would split their percentage as a bonus betwen that

A simple search to powerball.com, then the winners page, provides extremely enlightning information. You will probably consider this earth shaking, but there is actual information available. I even think the games are rigged (at times, but not often). So lets face it the games are not rigged and for them to do so would be so hard it wouldn't even be funny! The auditors (all of them) would have to be in on it from the start to finish (like the Pennsylvania scandal was way back when). Besides I would hope that the lottery has learned from others mistakes (like Pennsylvania's) about not having just a few auditors doing the job of auditing by having each auditors name in a pool and draw

Hey ScubaSki,The difference in percentages are mainly due to the different terms of length of the Annuity that is bought with the cash pool. Megamillions has a 26 year annuity payout, while powerball has a 30 year annuity payout. The source is mathematics. I calculated what the payout would be compared to the odds. And the answer is 9%. So much of the prize pool goes to smaller prizes, and this system would put more (but not too much more) into the jackpot. And if people see a higher, and growing, top prize, more people will play. To be honest, I'm a little stumped how I would do it, because Pick 5 is such a different game from Pick 3/4. An Inspector 5 would make perfect sense, but Deflate is a different animal.Deflate 3/4 currently reduces the number of picks based on combinations of numbers.
