New York State might "Suspend" lottery?
Best case I've heard for choosing the Lump Sum payment. Take your money and get out of there!! The way NY State Taxes and Spends the peoples money the state is near bankrupt. Not to mention the spending in Washington DC...... So even if the state gov't can afford your annuity payments ...with the inflation your money isn't going to be worth jack in 20-25 years. Call me crazy but I'm going to have an emergency bunker for when/if this country goes bankrupt and people are going nuts....... Get a sa

Lottery Winner's Plans? Paying the Bills
An annuity is the smart thing to do if you can depend on it. But what if something happens that make what you have in place no longer exists. I know that sounds crazy but it can happen. Thats the reason I would get cash. Give me my money now. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

Lottery Winner's Plans? Paying the Bills
The other story said that Natasha Woody sold the ticket to him and that he said to her that if he won he would give her $2 million. Here in Tx, once the tic is printed you can't cancel it, and we have to decide on cash option or annuity at the time of purchase.

Powerball jackpot seems very inflated.
This has been explained so many times. 2 different games. You need to stop thinking Powerball's cash option is lower and start thinking Powerball's annuity is higher .

Winning the Jackpot and taxes.
If one takes the annuity, is it a resonable fear that the government will loose your money or not give it to you? In the current environment I would say it is a very reasonable fear. We now have the most unstable, inexperienced, undisciplined, irresponsible government in our nation's history. I wouldn't trust them in the outhouse with a muzzle on. Take the cash and run.
