Numbers you'd complain about?
For those of you who don't like QP's that give you consecutive numbers or numbers with a narrow range, here are the results from Saturday 's NY lotto drawing: 3 - 4 - 5 - 30 - 40 - 43 and BONUS NUMBER 1 Matching all 6 would have paid $18.5 million (annuity) and any 5 plus the bonus would have paid $253,000, but nobody won either prize level.

Winning the Jackpot and taxes.
New to this site,so to begin saying Hi to All.There is a website that has mm/pb drawings amounts and payouts with both federal and state taxes for each state in USA for annuity/cash buyout, which states take state taxes and which do not.MY opinion if won, would be cash buy out, example 76million this weeks powerball,in MA would get check for 25.69 after federal/state taxes. But before claiming this would get IRS for 5754 which is for players winning in a pool( you can find this on-line) each person

Only $5 million increase
Actually, with the artificially inflated 20 million jackpot, even with Powerball's really really really phony annuity calculation, Powerball sales seldom cover the cash jackpot on the first draw. One will not really see the effect of a larger population pool until third or fourth draws.

Mega Millions, Powerball lottery ticket cross-sales begins today
You obviously have a strong opinion. You are not correct about always paying the top rate on anything over $500,000. Flat wrong. Maybe YOU would, but not everyone. Annuities are not worthless. That is your opinion. As Chuck Strutt has said before, you MIGHT be able to get the kind of return that Powerball can give in you in their annuity, but probably not.

Lottery winner lost money after investing funds
I totally agree. The financial experts all say that You should take the lump sum. Wrong. Financial experts should take the lump sum. Average Joe needs a learning curve. This kids poor investment decisions cost him 34% loss his first year. Now the money its costing him in accounting fees, poor tax decisions and more poor investment decisions, he will probably not turn a profit for another 4 years. By year 5, he will have probably lost TOTAL another 34% of the $330,000 capital he has left, leaving

1 ticket wins $7M Calif. lottery jackpot
I agree on the annuity with a pot that size. I would put it in my wife's name though. I don't know if I'd be around long enough to collect it all. I'm an old geezer. I could go tomorrow (I hope I go tomorrow, I haven't gone today yet).

El Gordo sounds much better than MM or PB!
The annuities in PB and MM are basically the same as any Win For Life game. If you check the fine print on any WFL you'll usually find they don't really mean for life when they say for life. It's usually guaranteed for a prescribed number of years just like the PB and MM annuities. Calling it Win For Life sells a lot more tickets than calling it what it really is though, an annuity with an expiration date. And in these times, when the government is broke and still spending like drunken sailors I

1 ticket wins $7M Calif. lottery jackpot
Finally got my wish in 2009! No I didn't win the lottery but California actually had two jackpots in a row. First and big one at $47m and then the $7m new minimum amount. I'm getting closer and closer to thinking that the California Lottery is legit! sweet! I think if I won that small amount of money, I would seriously consider taking a chance on an annuity. Half of $7m plus 30% off the top doesn't leave much money.

$200M+ jackpot for Christmas day?
Considering historical increases my first thought was that 200 is a bit optimistic, but I wouldn't be surprised if it went as high as 220 or 225. Recent increases are a bit bigger than in the past, partly because the advertised annuity is running almost 60% over the cash value. Factor in the economy driving an increase in sales and a bit of a rush since the drawing is on Christmas, and advertising it at 200 or more could mean a very sizable jump. Personally, I'd prefer to wait a bit and welco

All Things Considered, Which Is The Better Game - PB or MM?
Megamillions has a bigger cash fraction compared to the annuity (which is generally a fraudulent representation) and slightly better odds, not that it really matters. Since I play according to expectation value, I am more likely to play megamillions. I live on a border and can choose either one, although my state will soon play both.
