Lancaster County man claims $86M Powerball lottery jackpot
Hmmmmmmm, I don't think you read the whole article before commenting. In the second to last paragraph it says, On behalf of the group, Jean Edwards presented the winning ticket for validation yesterday at Lottery headquarters in Middletown after consulting with legal and financial counsel. Did you believe they took the annuity? No, they took the cash option.

Lottery-winning doorman gets the girl but might lose job
Not exactly hard to find, just wasn't posted here so as to not advertise it and give her more attention than she deserves. At least that's why I didn't put it here. I see the guy taking out loans agianst his annuity and getting into trouble... We'll find out in a couple years...

Lottery-winning doorman gets the girl but might lose job
How can he ever be broke? He's getting $5,000 a week for life! He's not stinking, filthy rich, but definitely very comfortable! I suppose he could make a lot of stupid investments, get into a lot of debt, and then he'd have to sell his annuity, but nothing I'm reading indicates he's going to do any of these things! A lot of men marry younger women and end up settling down having families. The modeling business is very tough and competitive. Maybe she found her Prince Charming. You never know.

Ohio winner of $196M lottery jackpot claims prize anonymously
i m confused...how do you pay more taxes when you have an annuity?? They will take the same amount of taxes out either way. I'm sorry but I could live on 5 million a year after taxes, but that's just me; i'm not too greedy...

Ohio winner of $196M lottery jackpot claims prize anonymously
Congratulations to the lucky winner!! Very intelligent person to claim the winnings in a blind trust.Must be a fairly young person, too, seeing as they chose the annuity.I think that all lotterys should allow the winners to claim prizes without giving the names to the press.

At what jackpot will you continue or quit working?
my pops, moms and bro .. they automatically get what i get so that's why so much and i wouldn't have it any other way! it's a gift, not sure about the tax part, they can have one of my bank cards and remove it that way [i mean, the government/irs is already getting their cut so they should leave me alone] and no annuity, don't believe in it and won't subject them to that - they're grown, they can do what they want with it ..

World Lottery- When Implemented?
Meh, the US would only need a national lottery, obviously the odds would have to be higher but just imagine how big the potential jackpots could be with all 50 states and maybe some territories in on the action. Too bad that'd never happen since I doubt the companies that run the Mega Millions and Powerball games would want the competition. Unless they merged and even still states might not like it either since money would be spread much thinner. But I could easily see something like that regula

2 Mega Millions winners.
I had a feeling it was going to be hit this Friday, so I didn't even bother to go out and buy any extra ticket for that drawing. I typically buy an extra ticket when the jackpot rolls over after just being hit. The MM winners probably will feel more like Lotto winners in that the cash split is about $3.5 Million (forget the annuity, that would only feel like a job paycheck). Well, I guess I can save my buck for the post Memorial Day draw and look forward the the Friday and beyond draws. Or bette

Teen wins $35 million Powerball lottery jackpot
You mean he is set for the next 3 years. ;-) This is a situation just screaming out for someone to take the annuity instead of the lump sum payment.
