Next "Huge" jackpot??
He didn't say a word about megamillions, and he did a perfectly good job of explaining the PB rules, but he did fail to consider one possibility. If sales push the advertised annuity past 365 million, subsequent increases in the annutiy value will be limited to a maximum of $25 million, but the first rollover that passes 365 could fall short of 390. As an example, if we get a PB jackpot of 300 million, sales for the next drawing might only push it to $375 million. If that happens and there is no

Lottery Winner Succumbs to Cancer
The way to stop smoking is to never start. Maybe he went into that particular store at that time directly or indirectly because of his smoking habit. I don't know how people start, it must take a great effort to suck IN clouds of smoke when normally the urge is to fan them away. I went through this with family members and have gotten my gf to quit. It's a shame that no one could offer to buy his annuity, that is give him a lump sum (present value minus a commission) in exchange for the payments.

Cat and Dog Lottery
My pets have won nice prizes, but unlike state run games the odds were fairly good and my pets would be happy with far more modest prizes. I did okay in the child lottery, but unfortunately the annuity ran out years ago and I no longer get free room and board.

Grandma's lottery ticket detour pays off
KY Floyd, thanks for picking up the for your life statement I forgot, since I was responding to the remark about her advanced age but I also thought that each of those games had a guaranteed payout of at least 20 years. If you win $1,000 a week for life, I am pretty sure that, if you die the next year, the payments don't stop. I'll look at the Kentucky site now. This is from their FAQs section: Is there a limit to the number of years I can win for life ? No. The Lottery will continue

Grandma's lottery ticket detour pays off
Given her advance age, The closer I get to 60, the more I notice these things. LOL The woman is only 73!! I realize that nationally the average life expectancy in the United States is around 78, but I know plenty of active 80+ year olds. Anyway, you can always bequeath your annuity payment. It doesn't appear as if she has financial troubles, so taking annual payments could prove to be a responsible way of collecting her money.

are you happy with YOUR state lottery?
I am not entirely happy with my state lottery...why if I happen to win Mega or Powerball, I will only play Powerball because of the Powerplay option. Nor am I entirely dissatisfied with it either...even though the Illinois lotto starts at $2M, at least it increases at first by 250K, then 500K at a certain point, and then 1M or 2M when it gets over 13 or 14M. Plus the cash value option is around 50 something percent (before taxes) of the advertised annuity jackpot amount (in Indiana, the jackpo

MI Millionaire Raffle
....... now that might be the difference .... in PA you do $1 million cash ... no annuity so maybe that's why the extra tickets and less prizes .... after federal taxes the million would drop down a lot .... lottery winnings in PA are not taxed ... does MI tax lottery winnings ..... still the $650,000 cash is nice .... how many tickets will you buy, just one or maybe 5 .... how many raffle drawings has MI already had ?.... how many raffle drawings does your state have in a year .... Wonder where the other half of 390 mill is?
Wonder how many financial advisers been asked I just won $195 million; should I take the cash or the annuity ? But once that's decided, most people don't need to ask a financial adviser the directions to the lottery office. I'm with Guru, why would you need a financial adviser before you cashed your ticket and got the money?

Lottery results worth $370 million drawn in Times Square
Many MM states (including NJ) require that you select Annuity or Cash at the time of purchase. What I don't understand is if they had these results at 11:30 PM, why wait? Or are these the NJ only results, and maybe they are still doing the search for more winners in other states.
