Are Lotteries Required to pay out 80% or more ?
Most state lotteries have financial reports on their websites and some break down the win percentage for each game. In Ohio for the fiscal year of 2006, the online games payoff percentage was 49.4%, the payoffs for scratch-offs were 66.2%, and all games included was 59%. The odds in Pick-3 are 1000 to 1 and the payoffs are $500 for $1 so the payoff percentage on one bet would be slightly less than 50%. are lotteries required to pay out a certain percentage of what they take in There mig

Can you pass up a drawing?
I have to have my regular numbers in every single Powerball drawing. I just know if I don't have that ticket, my numbers will come up. I also get quick picks for PB once in awhile, but I'm fine if I don't happen to get out to get one, just as long as I have my regular numbers. For WildCard 2, I only play when the jackpot is over $1.5 million or so. I don't have regular numbers for that game, so I don't even go check what the winning numbers were when I'm not in the drawing. I only start

Which lottery game?
If you just like gambling then pick3 games are excellent, they don't pay much but you will have a better chance of winning a top prize or $50 or $500 more often which can be satisfying to anyone who just loves gambling, but if you play the lotteries to beat the odds of scoring a big life changing win then any game that has a top prize under $100K is a waste of time. I can think of better ways to get $50 and one of them is to just stop playing lotteries. If I'm buying $10 worth of lottery tic

What is your preferred method for choosing numbers?
I use software that I wrote myself using GWBasic but it will do everything I've ever done using pencil and paper. Its core engine is a RND generator that pick numbers from up to three different groups and combine them according to a combination of parameters that I choose and compare them with all the previous drawings. It can automatically accept the combinations or display the results and allow me to accept or reject the combinations. Some of those parameters are: Sums - total of all

Maddogs Powerball Challenge 5/12
The QuickPick terminals in MO are special, they are programmed ahead of time using tachyon-based modems with the results of the upcoming drawing, and depending on who gave the most to their governor, the chosen players are given pseudo-QP tickets with the predetermined numbers, up to 5+1. That being said, I have a more serious concern. I marked Advanced Draws on a few PB slips and when they ran them THEY DID NOT REGISTER THE ADVANCED DRAWS! Is there some limit regarding May 12th, i.e. are the

Choosing your 4 #'s
There is a statistic that 70% of Power Ball wagers are quick picks, but I haven't seen Pick-3 and Pick-4 quick pick statistics. I started playing the Pick-3 in 1979 and have never bought a quick pick or talked to anybody that consistently buys quick picks. The only reason I would buy a quick pick is for the action, a chance to win knowing that any 3-digit number may be drawn. People play birthdates, anniversaries, phone numbers, license plate numbers, etc. because those numbers mean something to

I say a family pool..or a workplace pool is just fine..as long as a written agreement that everyone agrees to... absolutely agrees to I might add..lol..Just remember onething..the more combinations you can get your hands on for every draw INCREASES your chances of winning ..WHO CARES ABOUT A LIFE CHANGING WIN..are you so greedy that you want all of it..DO YOU HONESTLY NEED..5 million dollars..10 million dollars..are you that much in debt?..NO..YOU WANT 5 MILLION OR 10 MILLION..its not that you n

Illinois Midday pick 3 3/27/07
Did anyone hear that Carolyn Adams passed yesterday?? She was the Lottery's superintendent. I wonder if our game will be changing much now with new higher ups? I had no complaints but when new people get in her position I just dont expect things to stay the same

the proven lotto system
Yes, tendencies change: the key is noticing them. I know that for what I look at (and it's a LOT of tendencies), that some last about 8 drawings, and some last 20-30. Problem is, if you have not noticed them until game 6, then you have missed most of them. IME I can see a trend in 3 drawings, go any longer than that is useless because they are already changing the other way. But most folks think I'm a crackpot, so don't listen to me... ;)

Millionaire Raffles Across The States Discussion
The Maryland Lottery Website says that they will be sold until sold out. That is their original intent, anyway. Whether they change their minds about that, I don't know. The original rules do say that the drawing will be later if they are not sold out by Dec. 31st. But how much longer after that will they wait before changing the rules? I don't know. I hope they wait until after the 3rd myself. I have one ticket and would like to buy more and can't get their from PA until the 3rd. If they
