Prizes over $600 are not issued a W-2G which basically means there is no written record of the win. But by playing online there is a record of all the transactions. Last year I won over $600 accumulated on a legal horse racing site, but since they never sent me an statement, I had nothing to give to the IRS.

It can happen to Mega Millions as well, but it has to roll many times as well. California Super Lotto Plus rolled a record 51 times until someone hit a jackpot worth $63 million dollars. Mega Millions has to roll at least 3 more times to set a new Mega Millions record of at least $700 million. Mega Millions will have to roll about 5 more times to beat Powerball's jackpot of $1.5864 billion.

Whith the annuity value at 292 mill after saturdays rollover it still is not listed in the top 25 JP in history but the cash value of 191.9 mill is now up to #21 on the cash value list. If there are no winners in tonights drawing then i look for it to really start growing at a fast pace. When the record was set in Jan it was sitting at 302 mill and it only took 4 rollovers at that point to set the all time record.

The record jackpot was in the top percentile so from a probability perspective, we would only expect to see a couple jackpots per year near this level. Would be nice to see back-to-back record cycles but not likely.

Why on earth is the winner's home town public record? Out here in CA- the name of the winner,name of the city store that sold the ticket is for the public record. Unless I am reading this wrong- knowing where the winner resides is simply asking for it..
