Mass. Lottery officials concerned about big revenue dip
It sounds like the lack of a cash option in MA Megabucks and in many of its scratch games finally is catching up to MA. While only NY has higher sales, MA actually needs to look at other states' cash/annuity policies. I beg to differ with dvdiva that MM has the lowest prize/odds of any large jackpot game. The overall odds of winning in MM is 1:40, and its smallest prize is $2. NY has a game with overall odds (per $1) of 1:46, and its smallest prize is one dollar.

Random Generation of Quickpicks
This question -- about where the Quick Pick numbers are generated -- comes up almost as often as the cash vs. annuity debate. Is anyone prepared to say that the quick picks are chosen from the store terminals for ALL State lotteries? Do all lotteries release information about how many quick picks win from each terminal? Naturally, I am more interested in knowing what Michigan does but am interested in all the States as well.

One more annuity vs cash discussion
I've thought a lot about this kind of stuff. OK, let's just say for conversation there was lottery in the 1950's, and the jackpot was $5 million, which would have been a lot more money then than it is now. Let's also say someone hit, and took an annuity, and after taxes that came out to $330,000 a year. They'd pretty much think they were set, but as they years went on that once vast annual income wouldn't even buy a house in some places. What sounded like a fortune the first year turns out

Colorado man wins lottery second time
Florida Lotto does it the right way (cash value a floating percentage of the annuity.) When will Florida online games have the 60% payout? Please see my compromise thread in the Lottery Discussion forum.

ny raffle
Well for once NY gets it right. I have no idea whether NY's new lottery director (hired by then-Gov Pataki just after the election) had any influence in any part of the raffle. Hopefully he's listening to the players, and not just another puppet. You have to wonder why the top prizes in the raffle will be lump sum, while all the million-dollar scratch prizes going back to 2000 have been annuity-only.

Missing The $200m-$300m Jackpots
Looks like you are going to be waiting a very long time before Mega breaks 300 again. Without a change (like the price) I don't see it hitting any high notes for years. I can't believe the people running the lotteries care so little as to just let the game wither and die though. I'm predicting Powerball gets hit once it crosses the 100M in cash mark or 205-210 annuity.

Powerball hits triple digits
rdcl137- after uncrossing my eyes a few times from the circular reference I am in agreement with the 'Uh what' comment. Some folks often think in cash value only whilst others think in annuity.

Does your lottery listen to players?
My understanding is the Georgia Lottery corporation is structured differently than the NY lottery, in that Ga is almost a stand alone corporation which allows more flexibility in decision making. That may be the core difference between your state and mine, and what each can offer. Our lottery seems more player friendly since she took over, also I'm getting back answers to questions I've emailed unlike before. Personally I don't like the format nor low annuity payout of Win For Life so sim
