Say goodbye to PB & MM soon!
If you reduce the number of tickets sold, which would be the effect of cutting those states out, jackpots would still tend to be won at about the same dollar value, but it would take longer to reach that value.
For the record, at current sales levels, there's about a 6% chance that a low-valued MM jackpot will be won; for PB, it's about 7-8%. Cut California, New York, and Florida out of the games, and those values drop to 4-5%.

Say goodbye to PB & MM soon!
PSSH...Ive got tons of cred. The fact that neither game can roll is absolute proof that both are way too easy.
Stop asking how many jackpots I've won bc it's not way too easy for me, but it's way too easy for winners. If I ever win I will proclaim myself to be the first winner that had a real hard time winning.

TN is tonight's Powerball Winner.
Nice! Tennessee totally screwed New York last night!
Can't wait for that new PB matrix next month! Jackpots seem to have a hard time getting above $50m.

States that win too often should be punished.
So according to jj the states that produce the most revenue for the lottery should be cut off for a year.
Should that ever happen guess who the first one to post about jackpots being too small would be.

Georgia Lottery Scratch Offs
I'd like one of these, please.
I'm glad you shared this. This just goes to show no matter how disenfranchised we get with lottery and the mindset we may get from time to time of there being no real people winning jackpots, that they do actually exist and we just have to be in the right place at the right time to get it. This is awesome, congratulations to your friend.

why can't the lottery make a better odds game?
Sure would! I'd take 13 mill in a heart beat. But people like the BIG jackpots, which is why more people play the higher the pot gets. As long as there are games where you can win 40 mill to start why go for a measly 13, is the current mindset. I think the odds would have to be significantly better to attract a lot of players to the lower pot games.
Good Luck!!!

Mega Millions And Powerball Jackpot Won Back To Back In New York.
Maybe YOU are, but those big jackpots are why I play.
Of course, I would be happy to win MM or PB second prizes also.

is it better to play the Powerball or Megamillions?
So...based on everyone's your research and fact findings, is it better to play 16 mega millions tickets every drawing OR play 9 powerball tickets every drawing regardless of what these jackpots are at?
Who's research are you referring to when you say everyone? Based on what you call research you should do what ever you want and can afford to do.

Does your gut feeling tell you that...
The belief will always be there, course, when jackpots get larger that tends to aid fuel the fire just a bit more. Every now and then I look at the past winners on the state lotto, PB and MM lists, reread their stories and think what I would be doing if I won that amount. I know there are things I can't do any more because of age...... BUT,,,,, becoming a jackpot winner is not one of them. It's a unique feeling like no other because if/when it happens it probably will change your life...well....
