DC Lottery not paying winners during government shutdown
The federal govt will not allow the District of Columbia to pay. The lottery winners have to wait just like the SCHOOLS, POLICE, FIRE, EMS, MEDICAID, TRASH PICKUP.
What DC lacks is the RIGHT TO VOTE. What CONGRESS lacks is leadership. DC residents cant and did not vote for any of them.
DC leaders have been using the unspent money from 2013 but are prohibited by federal law from using its 1.4 billion local rainy day fund.
DC leaders have had to resort to disrupting congressional press co

Should a winning system be posted on the LP?
Would an innocuous reply from a lottery official prompt YOU to initiate a Poll Thread about WINNING lottery systems?
I would if they asked me to post the poll in exchange for an official State Lottery tee shirt and ball cap!
Would YOU refuse to reveal what the lottery official said to you?
Only if they asked about my day job .
JKING has been really vocal about the PB pari-mutual payoffs so it's possible someone from the Cali Lottery wanted to explain it was decided through legisl

Obama Embraces 'Death Panel' Concept in Medicare Rule
Specifically, the measure was known as Section 1233 of the bill the House passed in November 2009. It was not included in the final legislation, however. It allowed Medicare to pay for consultations about advance care planning every five years. In contrast, the new rule allows annual discussions as part of wellness visits.

Any Program works sometimes but No Program works all the time
Cupcake10, the biggest problem with the pick games is this: With the state payout structure set up the way it is, a player must remove so many combinations in order to make any type of profit. See, numbers and money go hand in hand with these games as we begin at 1,000 total combinations. Well, the maximum payout for a $1 str8 hit is only $500 and only $250 for a .50 str8 hit. What's being represented here is based on (500) and (250) numbers, or, 1/2 and 1/4 of the total numbers involved. Basica

How much does the U.S. president get paid?
Most candidates don't seek high elected or appointed government posts with the sole intention of becoming rich from the earnings they receive from the U.S. federal government. While compensation for such offices as the U.S. president and others is very generous when compared with the average American's salary, most of these men and women would likely make more money in the private sector and often do.
Both George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, the

Ct. Senate votes to collect delinquent taxes from lottery winnings
Connecticut state Senator Carlo Leone (D-Stamford) said Thursday that the Senate has approved a bill he co-sponsored that would deduct delinquent taxes from certain awards paid to Connecticut Lottery winners.
Allowing lottery winners who don't pay their taxes to collect prizes without contributing what they owe is unfair to everyone else who plays by the rules, said Senator Leone. Our state is in the middle of a fiscal crisis, and we are asking everyone to sacrifice in order to resolve it. N

Losing NJ Lottery tickets may soon be lucrative
Some losing New Jersey Lottery scratch-off tickets may soon become lucrative items.
New Jersey Lottery officials plan to soon roll out Million Dollar Replay, a program that will allow scratch-off holders to enter their losing tickets into a yearly $1 million drawing.
To take part, players will have to join the lottery's VIP Club and have bought at least $10 in non-winning tickets.
The lottery will also hold quarterly drawings to pick 100 winners who will each get $250. And at year's end

$116M Georgia Powerball winner claims prize
Can you imagine Obama pulling something like that off? He couldn't even do it with his own party controlling Congress with a filibuster-proof majority.
Actually, I think it will be interesting to see what will happen. That is typically when the most (albeit still very little) actually gets done. When there is a better balance. What I've witnessed over the last two years was one political party practically requiring a 60 vote filabuster proof majority, b/c nearly every piece of legislation wa

Bill would boost California Lottery jackpots
The state Lottery would be allowed to pay out more money on jackpots, with the aim of gaining more players and boosting funding for schools, under a measure that advanced Tuesday, but Los Angeles' teachers are skeptical.
Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi (D-Castro Valley) said her legislation would ultimately mean more money for education, but the United Teachers of Los Angeles objected during a committee hearing that it would allow funds to be shifted from education to prizes.
