Mississippi Lottery to add midday drawings and new Fireball feature to Cash 3 and Cash 4 games

Today the Mississippi Lottery announced a second daily drawing for two of their popular draw games, plus a new add-on feature called Fireball.
Starting July 31, Mississippi lottery players will be able to participate in two daily drawings for both Cash 3 and Cash 4, with an additional midday drawing set to take place at 2:30 PM CT. That will be in addition to the current nightly drawing scheduled at 9:30 PM CT.

Alabama Senate passes lottery, gaming legislation
Tuesday night, Alabama state senators passed a constitutional amendment, along with three companion bills, to allow a lottery to be created in the state and allow for casino-style gambling.

Santa Anita is postponing the opening day of its winter-spring meet by two days to Dec. 28 ahead of next week's forecast that calls for rain.

Mississippi hires experienced executive for its new lottery
The Mississippi Lottery Corporation announced Wednesday that it is hiring an experienced executive as its first president.
Thomas N. Shaheen, 66, begins June 1 and will oversee operations as Mississippi prepares to join most other states in offering scratch-off tickets and other game of chance.

Mississippi lottery board adopts rules on ethics and records
The governing board for the upcoming Mississippi Lottery is setting rules for ethics and public records.
It is also taking steps to hire bankers to provide financial services and a person to run day-to-day operations.

Florida Lottery will go offline for systems upgrade on April 15
Florida Lottery officials say they don't anticipate problems as a multimillion-dollar upgrade of a vending system goes into place this month.
But rather than press their luck, players are urged to buy earlier than normal as the new system is expected to require the main office to go offline for several hours April 15.
