MM Jackpot won win MI
The last time Mega Millions had multiple jackpot winners was on November 21, 2003, when three tickets split a $70 million pot (and two of those tickets were bought by the same person). The last time a Mega Millions jackpot was hit under $100 million (or under $50 million for that matter) was on December 3, 2004, when it was $24 million. The last time Powerball had multiple jackpot winners was on December 22, 2004, when three tickets split a $30 million pot. Currently, the Mega Millions jac

Maryland Lottery to end Lotto game
The only problem I have with these Match-6 type games is that the jackpots seem to have a difficult time increasing due to the fact that so many secondary prizes are payed out.For people like me, we play for the jackpot, not the secondary prizes. Personally, I wish they would just stay with the classic Pick-6 games, and keep the matrix somewhere between 42 and 49 numbers. The goal of many people is to win a jackpot of at least a million dollars, which would be roughly an annuity of between $2.5

Probability of a Rollover in Powerball.
The powerball has rolled over and the new estimated cash jackpot is $19.2M. The annuity jackpot is $40M. The cash value of the previous jackpot reached almost $16M, based on sales. For the last 4 draws the average sales figure has been 13.2M with a range between 12.6M and 13.7M. I will use the average figure to approximate the sales for the next drawing at 13.2. A rough idea of the probability of rollovers and numbers of winners for the next draw is given in the following table: 091.36%18.2

Mega Millions lottery jackpot reaches whopping $310 million
I'd say. Mega Millions has awarded only SIX jackpots this year so far (soon to be seven)! The previous record LOW amount of MM jackpots won during a full year was set in 2000 (the year of the record annuity jackpot), with only nine jackpots won. In contrast, the record HIGH amount of MM jackpots awarded during a full year was thirteen, which was set in 1998, and that record was matched in 2002. The record low amount of PB jackpots awarded during a full year was eight, set in 2001. In contr

Annuity/record jackpot
No choice is a bad choice when millions are involved, and you are already dirt poor. It all depends on how greedy, and impatient one is. Personally I will not be complaining when I win. Even with an annuity I will have much more than I do now, and will be doing a lot less work. But at least I can do the work that I want to do, and as much as I want to, even if I want to. But at least I will be working to make myself more rich, not someone else.

Planning On Winning A Jackpot?
Just6ntlc, Uncle Sam will get a nice sum before you get your check, but in the long run he would get even more over the years if you were to take payments! Everyone knows taxes don't go down, they always go up! So, what would you really pay in taxes (lets say) 15 years into your payments? We really don't know right now, but you could bet your last dollar you are going to be paying a higher tax rate than you are today! This is the prime reason to take the cash option over an annuity!

Federal Taxes??
Please don't think I'm stupid or naive but I have a question about lottery winnings and federal taxes. I know if you win the lottery and you take the annuity, you pay taxes on that every year that you recieve it. And I know you pay a tax payment before recieving your money with the lump sum. But my question is, if you win the jackpot and take the lump sum and quit your job are you still required to pay federal taxes every year? I feel kinda dumb asking this question. Please don't be to hard on m

Annuity/record jackpot
Cash only-I think we all know where you stand on the issue of cash or annuity. I believe you have made yourself perfectly clear many, many, times.I can't speak for anyone else; but I, for one, am sick of it.Please don't take this the wrong way. I'm really not trying to be mean, but your constant ranting about taking cash is getting tiresome.I do like to come here and read what everyone posts (chewie ripsnorter are something else!) so please refraine from re-hashing this subject again, or I wil

Mega Millions lottery jackpot raised to $262 million
The last increase was 37 million, so assuming another increase of at least 37 million the advertised jackpot would be at least 299 million, and that's enough for a record pre-tax payout. The cash value is about 58.7% of the advertised annuity, so a single winner could take a cash payout of about 175.5 million. That would be about 5 million more than Jack Whittaker's prize from 2002 and 11 million more than the payout in the recently over-hyped powerball record .In all probability a rollover w
