can someone please tell me how to run a lottery pool?
I wouldn't be involved in a lottery pool. but if you are make sure that your written agreement states that splitting only applies to tickets purchased as a part of the pool. That tickets purchased individaully or my members spouses are not a part of this pool. There have been a few cases where monies were tied up by lawyers and such because an individual in a lottery pool won with a ticket purchased outside of the pool and the other members thought they were entitled to those winnings as well.

Help organizing a work pool and forming a contract
This method offers no possibility for disputes.
There is always a possibility that there will be a dispute. The only question is how easy it will be to resolve a dispute when it comes up.
An email for each drawing listing the people you believe are in the group is a good way to prove that the people listed are in the group, but why would you need to prove that somebody is in the group? The problem is that the email may not be very helpful when somebody who played last week claims that

Record Powerball lottery jackpot claimed by 8 meat plant workers
It isn't coincidence. Who wins follows the same laws of probability as everything else. What we remember is a lot less reliable than probability theory, and in this case I'm pretty sure your memory is off. According to the Powerball website there were 14 winners in 2005 and it looks like only one was a workplace pool. 4 of those paid more than 50 million for the cash option and all went to individuals (the largest was split among family). The workplace pool shared just under $6 million among 15

After Seeing "Jackpot!"
Quote: Originally posted by DoctorEw220 on March 28, 2005 if i were to win a mega millions or powerball jackpot, i would split it with my cousin. his mother (my aunt) has only days left to live, and he could really use the money. after that, i would buy a house (not a modest one, but one that would be nice to live in. i'd send my kids (when i have, or adopt, them) to private school. i would want them to grow up thinking independently. i'd buy a mini-van and take it to west coast customs in LA to

Pool players ponder Powerball hypocrisy
Nobody was betting on $212 million at The Pour House on Friday.A week after Charleston police and State Law Enforcement Division agents raided a pool tournament at the Savannah Highway tavern, three patrons at the bar shook their heads no over their beer. They hadn't bought a $1 chance at the state-sponsored, long-odds Powerball game. The prize at stake in tonight's drawing for the multistate lottery payoff has climbed to more than $200 million for the second time in five months. The last time,

Buying MM or PB lottery tickets
Have to agree with you on this one Coin Toss.
When I lived in New York I used to hop over the border to Pennsylvania and buy PA Millionaire Raffle tickets. They sold a maximum of 500,000 tickets. Because they awarded four million dollar prizes, they advertised odds of 125,000 to 1 to win one million dollars. The first four tickets drawn (they really used an RNG) won one million dollars each.
When draw time rolled around after they awarded the first million dollar prize by drawing one ti

Florida Fantasy-5 Players
Have you ever heard somebody say There's a reason for everything.
Have you ever wondered why when there is no jackpot winner the second place prize is always $555.00?
It's because FF5's official rules cap the second place prize at $555.
The second prize pool shall be divided equally among the players matching four of five official winning numbers except that the maximum prize amount per winner shall be $555. Any funds in the second prize pool in excess of the second prize liability

Joining a lottery club?
Yeah a written operating agreement is crucial for a big pool, whether they are strangers or family. No reason why you can't insist on rules with kin. Gotta have rules for buy-in amt and frequency, what to do if someone misses a payment, whether to distribute or reinvest smaller wins, whether QPs are okay with everyone or not. What if some in the group want to do self-picks instead of QPs because they think they've cracked the code? LOL. But the biggest problem is when some pool members play indi

Florida Fantasy-5 Players
You and me both with regard to winning 2 jackpots!
I did not realize how badly The State of New York Lottery was hammering Take5 players in New York until I got here. I could not believe my eyes when I saw odds of 376,992 to 1. Take5's odds to win a jackpot are 575,757 to 1. And... Florida allocates 62% of the winners prize pool (they make pay outs to all winners from the winners prize pool) to the jackpot. In other words, if you hit a jackpot and the winners prize pool had a total of $500,0
