What's the highest amount you'd feel comfortable handling on your own??
Without financial planners and tax attorneys helping you when or even right after you claim, what's the highest amount you think you could handle on your own. For me I'd say the base jackpots and below. Mainly because after taxes, buying a new house and a couple of cars, I'd just be looking for some simple investments to park the cash and just live off the income from the investments. That's me how much would you feel you could handle on your own?

Ohio Classic Lotto (6/49) at $16.6M/$8.3M cash
You are in luck because Ohio has drawings for two games tonight that have jackpots worth more than the price of tickets for all the possible combinations. Classic Lotto at $56.8M/$28.4M cash with odds of 1:14M and Rolling Cash5 at $655K with odds of 1:575,757.
Your buddy will probably be picking up some tickets for himself and if either of you won big you'll find out just how much of a buddy he/she is. Good luck.

How To Predict Future Lottery Results
There sure are a lot more people talking about hitting 6 out of 49 than people hitting 6 out of 49.
For two years running the Illinois Lotto game- a 6/49 game - paid out 11 jackpots for the year and 7 of the 11 were quick picks both years.

How would someone get Ira Curry to help them?
Birthday numbers are the day a person was born the month they were born or their age in no particular order.
And most jackpots are won on quick picks.

What amount of money does it currently take to create a jackpot frenzy?
This thread seems to be about the national lotteries of PowerBall and MegaMillions but I've seen the same thing happen with local lotteries as lower level when their jackpots exceeded the value of buying all their possible combinations.
For our Rolling Cash5, it's at $500K and for our Classic Lotto, it's about $50M+.

Introducing Ira Curry
I'm actually surprised when people who've won huge jackpots can actually remain anonymous. You would think that in this day and age, if someone really wanted to, they could find out who the Jackpot winner is. Also, If you win for example 100 million dollars, it would be kind of hard to hide that fact. I mean wouldn't your friends notice something different when the jackpot winner has been announced in your city and you suddenly quit your job and go into hiding? Wouldn't the friends start talking

Why is the new cash option so low for MM?
Along with the matrix change, MM changed the annuity from 26 years to 30 years. It's marketing. Many people just see the advertised annuity amount and won't know that the cash value relative to the advertised jackpot was considerably weakened with the change.
I know this will never happen, but it would be nice if lottery jackpots are advertised with their cash values rather than annuity values, then people will be comparing apples with apples across various JP games, old/new, etc. The annuity

$586 MILLION: Mega Millions jackpot climbs toward a new record
By Todd Northrop
As tickets for the multi-state Mega Millions jackpot pump out of lottery machines across the United States, the question on lottery players minds is just how high will the jackpot go before the drawing on Tuesday night.
One lottery official says that Mega Millions ticket sales easily could push Tuesday's jackpot above last year's record $656 million prize.
No ticket matched the six numbers needed to win Friday's $425 million prize. It was raised Saturday to $550 million

I have a feeling there will be no winners next Tuesday MM drawing
These ultra mega mondo half-billion jackpots bring out everyone, even the most cynical curmudgeon analytical tightwad buys at least 1 ticket...secretly.
If anyone asks them if they bought a ticket, they say, Bah...Humbug!

$550 MILLION: Mega Millions holiday bonanza!
Half-billion jackpot is 4th-largest of all time
By Todd Northrop
What a wonderful Christmas miracle it will be for some lucky lottery player this year!
After 21 drawings without a jackpot winner, the multi-state Mega Millions lottery game now boasts a swelling jackpot of more than a half-billion dollars that could instantly put someone among the wealthiest people on the planet.
After nobody won Friday night's grand prize, the Mega Millions jackpot grew to an estimated $550 million th
