£84.4M Euro Millions lottery jackpot claimed anonymously
If you see someone looking incredibly smug in the next few days, this could be the reason.
The winner of last week's 84.4 million (US$122.7 million) Euro Millions jackpot came forward on Sunday but has decided to remain anonymous.
It is not even known whether they are a man, woman or a syndicate.
By choosing to keep their identity secret, the record-breaking winner is likely to avoid the pleas that inevitably flood in to those who declare their wins.
But with such an enormous sum of

After $10M lottery win, Mass. woman plans 'exceptional Christmas'
Debra A. Roberto, a Stoneham mother, won a $10 million grand prize the largest instant prize in America last week in the new Mega Cash game from the Massachusetts State Lottery.
She cashed in her winnings Monday, Nov. 23.
I've won a little [money] in the past, but I never even dreamed of winning this amount, she recently told the Sun. I scratch a lot of tickets, so when I scratched this one my husband said, 'Maybe now we're even.'
Her grand prize ties the record for the largest instan

N.C. Lottery posts record returns
Loosened restrictions on prizes boosts revenue to the state
The North Carolina Education Lottery may not be recession-proof, but it's posting financial returns that would be a long shot for almost any other business in this economic environment.
The lottery generated $1.29 billion in sales in the fiscal year that concluded at the end of June, according to unaudited figures provided by the commission that oversees the games. That's a 19 percent increase over the $1.08 billion in gross sales

Lottery winner demonstrates the right way to claim a big jackpot
Remember, each individual is different. For the pharmacist, waiting three months to claim her prize -- was right for her.
New Mexico has a 90-day window -- if you do not claim your prize within 90 days, you forfeit your winnings because there is not a six-month waiting period, here. However, I am not sure if you can form a LIMITED PARTNERSHIP in New Mexico. Nevertheless, New Mexico does not require a press conference (although the lottery personnel would like you to do so), but you are requi

Small N.Y. store sells lots of winning lottery tickets
It's called Broadway News, but the Money Store might be a better name. New York State Lottery money falls like thousand-dollar bills from heaven at the newsstand at 352 Broadway in Newburgh.
Since 2002, 154 people have won $1,000 or more at the store. That's nearly twice as many as the next store with the most winners in Ulster, Sullivan and Orange counties, a Sunday Record analysis found.
The Quick Mart at 515 Broadway sells nearly as many tickets but had just 81 winners in the same time.

D.C. Lottery hopes raffle will bring fiscal success
The D.C. Lottery's Quick Cash game had been around for more than 15 years when Todd Zimmerman walked into Rodman's Drugs in Northwest in February 2005 and bought two $1 tickets.
With three games on each ticket, the government contractor won the maximum $250,000 jackpot for each of the six games. But the improbable $1.5 million payout also helped put the D.C. Lottery's Quick Cash game more than $640,000 in the red for the year, records show.
Within months, the game was canceled, although lo
