$221.5 million Powerball prize split between two tickets
Two winning tickets, one purchased in Pennsylvania and the other in South Carolina, will split the Powerball New Year's Eve jackpot worth $221.5 million.Thirty players correctly matched the five white numbers and won $100,000 each.Better-than-expected sales caused the jackpot to jump from the estimated $210 million to $221.5 million. The winners will have to decide if they want a 29-year, 30-payment annuity or the cash option worth $60.1 million each. They have 60 days after their ticket is vali

PA Super Six is going away...
smd:I obviously am waiting until we find out EXACTLY what the rules are for Match Six . Personally, it matters little to me how many plays you get for $1 (actually, I didn't see confirmation that you'd pay $1 for three plays.) I'm concerned that people who casually play the lottery (as opposed to those who know all the rules) would be turned off by things they are not used to. And, of course, many players don't like the idea of not being able to choose all their numbers. Also, I hope that the ne

You've won the lottery! Now what?
My favorite part of the annuity payments since I'm 28 is that if I would win in the near future I could recieve all 30 payments and not even be 60 years of age. You get the cash now and its 30 some million or you take the payments and its like 50 to 60 million over 30 payments. I probably wouldn't spend 30 million dollars in my lifetime or 50 to 60 million. But I like having a check every year just in case you get a little crazy with your money to fall back on. And if I die by some fluke rea

You've won the lottery! Now what?
If I took the cash I would have financial/legal/tax personnel and not to mention my family members/friends all at my door barking for hand outs. Sometimes we sit around a day dream about the winnings and people say things that they don't mean about who is going to get this or that. So if I win I'm going to choose annuity because it would be less of a hassle for me to refuse them a hand out. People expect you to bend over backwards to help them if you are related and won the lottery or if you

NY Lotto: 25 years of ripping off winners
Those odds don't sound that bad. In OhioSuperLotto,a 6/49+1 game, the overall odds of winning something(a free QP for annuity payments) is 1:54, but the odds of winning the smallest cash amount ($5) is 1:812 for a $1 play, that's about 81 to 1 for a buck per every 50 spent.A few years ago they had a limit on what a single ticket would pay regardless of the jackpot size. That was doing the good old days when jackpots were as high $60M and rollovers were a least $4M. After people stopped playing

MM Drawing for Tues. 11/11/03
Chief,The OhioSuperLottoPlus is a 649 game that chooses a 7th ball as a bonus ball which is used for matches less than six. The overall odds of winning any money is 1:812. Earlier this year that was changed to include a free QP with annuity for a match 3 which changed to overall odds of winning something to 1:54. The jackpot has better odds than MegaMillions but the lower prizes amount and odds are worst. I don't usually play it when the jackpot is below $10M, but it will be $13M this weekend

High Court OKs Lottery Worker's Prosecution
In response to lottery agent's lying about annuity or cash. There's always a first time for us to hear things. When people in position do secret things their hope is that when someone uncovers the truth that no one will believe them. That's why so many people have gotten away with wrongdoing. However, I know the ticket was a cash payment ticket because I purchased it. Furthermore, after I was given a hard time, I was finally allowed to come and inspect the ticket and I have a copy of it to
