Powerball lottery jackpot storms back to $203 million
I still say Megamillions should split the megaplier in two and have the smallaplier and the bigaplier. It is taking forever for the Jackpots to roll now and it will probably take even longer once the odds get longer. It also shows that adjusting the ticket price wasn't a bad idea...if you want to buy the same stuff with todays inflated currency you need inflated ticket prices too so the prizes get bigger.

Can math and logic improve chances of winning a jackpot?
The last time something like that was seriously tried was in Virginia over twenty years ago by an Australian group. They made out play slips and took over three Seven Eleven store terminals for three days. They managed to buy over eight millions lines which did include the jackpot winning combinations but afterwards most states put in places rules which should prevent that ever happening again. Now days schemes to win a lottery jackpots are smaller and require less money of which I haven't he

The next jackpot winner/ winners should be from which State in your humble opinion?
Something interesting. NY, CA, NJ, OH are the top four states for most MM winniners. But those states bottom out when it comes to PB winners. Same thing thing with IN, PA, MO, KY. They have most of PB winners, but come in last place with the least MM winners. Then there are some states like Vermont, North Dakota, and Maine who never had a single win for either big jackpots.

Powerball and Mega random number picking??
Its random alright, if there was a set pattern to winning these games-the lotteries would not be able to function on a profit basis.Imagine if you will if everyone entering a Casino kept hitting the million dollar jackpots, security would be combing the floor, they would shut down those machines and deem them malfunctioning, why?- because they would say its not normal to be hitting the winner as frequently as they are. The house always wins'- that's the bottom line.

Has your enthusiasm for PB/MM been dampened as of late: Y/N?
Nope! I certainly wouldn't complain! In fact, I like the smaller jackpots. I think the big ones get you way too much publicity and would bring out some nasty parasites and leeches. $10 million cash option, after taxes, what's that? $4 million? Sounds like plenty to me.

CNBC writer looking for lottery players
Yep, I'm just in it for the fun. It has no impact on my life, I don't do without to buy lottery tickets, I don't go into a deep depression if I don't win. I like to dream about what I'd do if I won but when I don't win, it's no big deal. I keep it at around $6 to $10 most weeks, but once in a while spend a bit extra when the big ones get really big. Although sometimes I think those big jackpots are too big! Like, scary big

The Hangover
Agree! I don't wait for only big jackpots because we don't get to choose WHEN we might win. The cash value for the next draw is $23 million. I can retire on that. And, there won't be much media attention because they're all fixated on who just won.

$400 MILLION: Powerball jackpot skyrockets
Before PB and BigGame became available in neighboring states, Ohio had almost the same matrix with its Super Lotto Plus game (6/49 +1) and jackpots of $40M+ never went more than a month before being won because players from the neighboring states regularly came to Ohio to play. If Classic Lotto had the same number of players today, it would be won in 3-4 drawings. MegaMillions with its new matrix of 5/75 + 1/15 will have players from 42 states and they won't have to travel out of state to pla

$400 MILLION: Powerball jackpot skyrockets
Don't know why people get excited for large jackpots, it's not like your chance of winning is getting any better. Yes someone is gonna win, but that someone ain't gonna be you. Being optimistic is one thing, being realistic is another. So why get excited about money that's going in someone elses pocket who might be evil and not deserve it? You don't know the private life of these jackpot winners. Some old man might win and you might say good for him but what if he is really a child molester? or

Can math and logic improve chances of winning a jackpot?
Original Post by Stack47 The odds against matching 12 numbers or zero is still 2.7 million to 1 and the potential of multiple players playing the same numbers was overlooked by someone working for GTech. Having a limit on a fixed jackpot doesn't mean they expect lots of multiple winners. We're reading more stories of players winning fixed jackpots playing the same numbers multiple times. Recently the same player had multiple $2 million 5 + 0 matches in WVA and a KY player had ten winning $200,00
