LOTTOMIKE
There, you have done it again, trying to make me think. Your posts are great. This one is so tough that it makes my head hurt and blood spurt out of my eyes. <G>
I suppose one could argue that when a person serves his time in prison he has satisfied his debt to society. Therefore, he should be able to buy and collect winnings from a Lottery. That is why I voted yes in your poll.
However, I also agree with other replies that the money should go to compensate the victi

ICBA Asks Senate to Re-Examine Internet Gambling Bill Requirements
Washington, D.C. (July 28, 2006) The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) called on Congress to re-examine provisions in the Internet Gambling Prohibition and Enforcement Act (H.R. 4411) as passed by the House of Representatives since the measure could greatly over-burden the nation's payment system and monitoring payments made to gambling interests may be impossible.
ICBA recognizes the concerns that some of yo

US House votes to kill Internet gambling
When you say something like that you are proving two things:
You have no idea what Republicans are. Republicans stand for more freedom, not less. You think Republicans drove this bill. Yes, Republicans did vote for it. But so did Democrats. Everybody is equally to blame for this idiotic bill.
Anyone who is in their thirties or later did not grow up with the Internet when they were in grade school and high school. These people, me included, literally had no way to get honest, truthful i

US House votes to kill Internet gambling
I've been wondering all afternoon who is the lobbying interest behind H.R.4411.
Clark Howard is a radio and tv consumer advocate who normally knows who or what issue is behind various legislation.
He is not in favor of any kind of gambling, but please read past his opinion to who is the lobbying interest behind the push to stop it.
For those who've said follow the money trail, you are indeed correct.
Credit card companies are apparently losing $$$$$$$ so are the lobbying intere

N.J. Lottery players question logic of shutdown
It was done to bypass the Checks and Balances of Government.
The system of checks and balances is an important part of the Constitution. With checks and balances, each of the three branches of government can limit the powers of the others. This way, no one branch becomes too powerful. Each branch "checks" the power of the other branches to make sure that the power is balanced between them. How does this system of checks and balances work?
The process of how laws are made is a good example

How to win more lotto for less money.
The above depends on the lottery rules(legislation) one is participating and individuals preferences.
Nearly all lotteries follow a parimutuel payout system or parimutuel system combined with a fixed payout for the lowest category prize. On average across the board 45%-55% of the draw ticket sales is allocated to most prize funds. The rest of the sales is divided among good causes, government taxes, retailers in commissions, and towards operating costs for the lottery corporations.CASH only

Ky. Lottery Under Fire For Scratch-Off Tickets
I've recently discovered that a class-action suit is currently pending against the Hoosier Lottery for similar offenses (this has nothing to do with what LosingJeff and I are working on).
Apparently, the issue is that the expiration dates for their scratch-off games don't appear on the tickets, nor can this information be found on their website. The only place to find it is on Indiana's State Government website (so I'm told - I couldn't find it there, either), so you can imagine how often it'

Once again, U.S. tries to shut down Internet gambling
Quote: Originally posted by Chewie on February 20, 2006 Quote: Originally posted by KY Floyd on February 20, 2006 << Similar legislation has been introduced over the years, but has been thwarted consistently by notorious gambling lobbyist Jack Abramoff. >>
I see I'm not the only one who singled out that line. Abramoff is notorious for his bribery, not his lobbying, and he didn't thwart anything. He can hand out money and lobby until the end of the world, and the laws will still be

Illinois Lottery exploring Internet sales again
Could keno be out and Internet lottery in?A proposal from last spring to authorize Internet sales of Illinois lottery tickets popped up again Thursday, a week after Gov. Rod Blagojevich unveiled a controversial initiative to include keno in the lottery as a way to finance school construction bonds.A Blagojevich spokeswoman said the governor was not backing off the keno proposal but seemed to hedge her bets. We are willing to consider other ideas from the General Assembly, Rebecca Rausch said.Th
