CT Classic Lotto $13 million Fri 8/31
Since I live in Westchester County, NY, at least twice a week, I visit Connecticut. Their almost-forgotten CT Classic Lotto is $13 million for Friday. The 6/44 game pays $2 for a three-number match and returns an average of 52% in prizes. If you live in Massachusetts (6/49 and 6/42 games still ANNUITY-ONLY), Rhode Island, or the east side of the lower Hudson Valley, it's worth a drive to CT (even Greenwich-no lines) to play it. The NY Lotto, as mentioned before, returns only 40% in prizes; the

Ohio Lottery Players
Todd, as you know, I live in New York, but, I follow the progress of other states' quest for big jackpots. One thing you did NOT mention is how Ohio discriminates against lump-sum winners by using a smaller cash value (15-20%) than for those who take the annuity (30 payments.) Ohio needs to join a multi-state game (any more on a proposed joint game with Pennsylvania?) There will be a Lotto South beginning shortly after Labor Day; Kentucky will have another mega-jackpot game to lure Cincinnat

Ohio needs Big Game (or Powerball)
RJOh, you have some good points. The 1:450 or so chance of winning a prize as small as FIVE DOLLARS is ridiculous. (Don't ask me why the new 6/49 Michigan Millions also has this token $5 prize.) One other major fault with the Ohio Lotto game is this Kicker - it's not just Quick Pick-only , but, you MUST play the unrelated Lotto in order to play Kicker. If you want to win $100K in Ohio, you should try Buckeye 5. But, the biggest beef I have with your 6/49 is the different way of computing cas

Ohio needs Big Game (or Powerball)
The Ohio Lottery is seriously considering offering a multi-state game. Let's hope so-the Ohio (Stupid?) Lotto gives players almost a Hobson's choice -30 annual payments, or, a cash option which cheats lump-sum winners out of their full winnings, since Ohio uses a different percentage rate for cash and annuity winners. (See the Ohio Lottery website.) Presumably, if Ohio joins Big Game, Powerball, or a proposed joint game with Pennsylvania, winners choosing cash within Ohio would get the same cas

MEGA BUCKS LOTTERY
Dear Todd- I know what you're talking about. The Mass. Lottery website gives the Cash Option AND annuity jackpot for The Big Game, but nowhere is there a mention of Megabucks and/or Mass Millions winners receiving a lump sum or being allowed to choose cash. Here in NY, Lotto (actually a poor bet because of the 40% prize return) players still must choose when they bet, at the store or by subscription. I have yet to hear of a NY Lotto winner receiving a lump sum despite a 26 Annual Payments tick

Winning Numbers from Big Game
Unfortunately, when people try to analyze data that comes from any of the state lotteries (which I assume is the source of the data you posted), it tends to be flawed. An example: the jackpot dollar amounts you posted were incorrect. The July 28th jackpot was NOT paid as an annuity, it was paid as a one-time cash value of $38,020,809 ($25,473,942.03 after taxes). This is just an example. If you go to any of the state lottery sites, you will find inaccurracies like these, as well as inconsistency o

You just won a huge lottery jackpot! Now what?
By Todd Northrop This week we are seeing the largest lottery jackpots in history up for grabs to anyone spending as little as $2 for a ticket. The $1.6 billion Mega Millions jackpot is certainly getting most of the attention, but the $620 million Powerball jackpot would be just as life-changing to the winner. That's a total of more than $2.2 billion between the two games. It's not just life-changing money, it's multi-generational wealth. When one or more tickets eventually hit all si

US Powerball multi-state lottery game expanding to the UK
Someone Above said if someone in Uk wins the lottery they can take the money and run away and not pay complete Federal tax later. And am thinking Now how can you run away in the first place when they gave you no Lump sum option only annuity. If you run away they freezes the rest of your Annuity Payments Ok when people win Powerball the top tax is like 37 percent. There are two ways to pay federal government. One way is the player pays 37 percent and the other way is l guess each sold t
