N.Y. Lottery may lift curbs on Quick Draw keno game
Pronto Lotto does not look like much. It sits outside the entrance to a busy subway stop in Elmhurst, Queens, supplying passers-by with cereal, chips and milk like any other bodega.
But Pronto Lotto's real business takes place in the carpeted, hushed area where its most devoted customers watch video screens from a scattering of tall silver tables, hour after hour, day after day.
The players mostly men, about a dozen at any given time come on their lunch breaks or after work to study the sc

Delaware Lottery adds Keno to lineup
Delaware's latest effort to squeeze state revenues out of an increasingly competitive regional gambling market launched Tuesday with the activation of Keno instant lottery terminals at 81 bars, restaurants and other private businesses.
The state expects the new game to bring in $1 million by June 30, a small slice of the $238 million forecasters estimate will be generated by all other forms of legal gambling in the state this fiscal year.
The Keno figure is down from the $1.6 million in st

State cuts lottery winner's benefits
Re: SHE PAID MASSIVE TAXES,
How long had she been on food stamps and without income?
If she's on food stamps and with no reportable income, that would imply she hasn't been paying taxes previously.
Yet she probably uses the 'free' public education system for her kids.
Probably uses 'free' parks for her kids, maintained by the city.
Has police, fire and possibly emergency medical services available.
If she has no income, would probably be going to 'free' clinics for medical serv

D.C. Lottery continues to evolve online gambling plan
The D.C. Lottery's planned online gambling program will not be hosted on the city's secure DC-NET Internet system as originally planned, information technology officials said Wednesday.
The gambling program known as iGaming faces a repeal effort in the D.C. Council, yet lottery officials have been working on its implementation since it passed into law as part of a supplemental budget plan last December.
D.C. Lottery's initial plans to use DC-NET a high-speed fiber-optic network that carrie

Spanish duchess taps fortune for OK to wed at 85
MADRID It's the stuff of a soap opera starring European nobles: at age 85, one of Spain's richest and most title-laden women wants to wed a civil servant young enough to be her son. To placate her six wary children, she's signed over to them palatial chunks of her wealth.
She's a distant relative of Queen Elizabeth and Winston Churchill and you have to take a deep breath just to pronounce her name:
Maria del Rosar

Have you ever wondered why many lottery retailers are owned by members of certain racial minorities?
5) continued. Lets contrast two business models for example, we will compare FEDEX Kinkos or a UPS store against the US Postal Service. If you go into a privately owned UPS store, more times than not you will be greeted by cheerful staff that are happy to help you, and go about their business in a quick manner. Now contrast that with a government run program, USPS. If you have ever had the misfortune of going into a post office, you will no doubt remember standing in a long line, only to face a

Illinois Lottery privatization announcement expected Wednesday
Southtown Star Editorial
Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn is about to make a billion-dollar decision to which most of us haven't paid much attention. For months, consortiums and companies have been working behind the scenes to become the jackpot winner of a prize that will set an international gambling precedent.
Illinois is soon to become the first in the United States to turn over its state lottery operations to a privately owned company. How this experiment progresses undoubtedly will set preced
