Interesting. I'd never heard of Benford's law. If lottery numbers followed it two conclusions could be drawn:1) The lottery operator is cheating.2) The draw machine just wasn't designed well enough (the standard statistical tests for randomness would also indicate this).

i agree the ticket readers are sometimes difficult to read and or operate.here, where i check mine the machine is frequently out of service.also when i check my numbers i have missed winners that the machine found for me (two four number winners) i believe the clerk was doing the best they could and was not cheating or being careless. i think i would have given a tip of 10%.the comments here do not seem to reflect those opinions on the related page of polling whether to return tickets or not.

like i said we need to get a law BANNING computerized drawings because its a form of cheating that gives the lottery commission an unfair advantage in my opinion.like you said it could be skewed,tampered,messed with in any way they like including monitoring the results and programming the drawing to make the daily number the number that was bought the least or not at all by players that day giving the lottery commission maximum profit and the players little or nothing.indiana ia a good example o

i don't know every since they changed out the machines and put new machines in the store it's been extremely hard to hit..... they say the number are computer generated. whatever they are doing ,they don't show the numbers evertime they draw the ball. they just show on tv. i enjoy playing don't get me wrong, but i feel texas people are being cheated and if the other states are doing the same thing they are cheating also....bearsmoma bear

I've noticed on average when I buy tickets if the odds say 1:4 I usually win something if I buy 6 tickets, however, if I buy 4, chances are I don't win anything. I think some people get overall odds confused. If every 3rd ticket was a winner there would be a lot of cheating going on with retailers too.

SC machines cut off sales 15 min before each draw.This is my belief on this---they have 30 sets of numbers that CAN come out each draw, well if all the numbers being played at a given draw are SEEN in lottery office and they have 15 minutes to choose what number pays the least and you just KNOW that a certain number will fall and in a blink of an eye,out comes SOMETHING else.I HAVE accused them of cheating' and was told that I was quite welcome to come watch the draw live,but I still dont TRU

Don't be too hard on Genius, like many lottery players including myself, he probably got lucky a few times close together and before reality had a chance to settle in he thought he had discovered something and wanted to share it. Every player when he hits knows he did something right, but most don't know what it is, and those who think they know figure out later they just got lucky. When triples fall, it is not cheating really..the triple 111's have been due for about 2 or 3 months..I played them really heavy last week and got off them this week. I actually thought they would fall in TN since TN had that 2 vtrac just sitting there doing nothing for a while.
