Christmas Day Powerball lottery winner claims $48.8M jackpot
The winner of a $48.8 million Christmas Day jackpot has come forward to claim the prize, New York Lottery officials confirmed Thursday. Carolyn Hapeman, a New York Lottery spokesperson, said the ticket-holder came in on Tuesday afternoon to claim their prize more than a month after it was sold at the Stewart's Shop at 4208 Route 50 in Wilton, New York. Hapeman declined to identify the winner until the verification or auditing process of the ticket has been completed. That process, because

This is what I pulled from the TX Lottery website. http://www.txlottery.org/export/sites/default/Winners/Claim_Your_Prize/ HOW AND WHERE DO I CLAIM MY PRIZE? It's easy to claim your prize. This table illustrates where you can claim different prize levels. We recommend that players contact the Texas Lottery Claim Center in their area, or 1-800-375-6886, for hours of operation and to be certain they have all the necessary information prior to traveling to Austin or any Texas Lottery

Priorities after winning the jackpot
I like to think that I am planning to win ....In my postings, I am taking into account other people's situations....in case they are the fortunate ones to win. If it is a huge jackpot, it may be easy to uproot and move away but here are situations that some may encounter Some people have young children that need care. Uprooting them from their homes, no matter how fortunate, can be devastating. I know that there are alot of loose screws out there and even though you can say no, move away, the

Virginia man claims $200M Mega Millions lottery jackpot
As noted, claiming anonymously wasn't an option, but you don't need to start with anonymity if you've got half a clue, or good advice. That's one reason I don't think 5 months is necesarily a long time. Everyone's situation will be different, but everyone who hasn't already worked at being invisible has some sort of public presence that needs to be eliminated as much as possible. It's not hard to disappear if you want to. I'd start by waiting until I'd discreetly secured a new place to live, and

Actually, the probability of $300 M jackpots in MM is slightly higher with new states.
I did an analysis of the probability of $300M jackpots in MM with 1.7 as large a population as is currently obtained, using average sales for each drawing compiled over several years. The number, 1.7, is all (PB states population + MM population)/(MM population). I then used a poisson distribution for 0 winners (a rollover) showing with these sales figures for each drawing. I then multiplied each previous rollover probability for all drawings (product) to find the overall probability of

Super 7 is back in PA!
Here's the info on Super 7, Part Deux. Again, these are facts about an actual game coming March 10th, not a proposal from me: To play, one selected 7 numbers from 77. The lottery will select 11 numbers from 77. You win by matching 3 or more numbers out of the 11 drawn. Matching all 7 numbers on a ticket to any 7 of the 11 drawn wins the jackpot. The jackpot starts at $1 million annuity value. You'll have to choose annuity or cash when you buy your ticket. Tickets are $2 Match P

A comment on the new Powerball Expectation Values.
In the old 5/55 form of Powerball, the expectation value for the lower prizes - the sum of the payouts for each prize divided by its odds was 0.20 total. (This ignores the Powerplay, which I never play). The new expectation value for the lower prizes has FALLEN to 0.17, meaning that the powerball - even though the probability of winning ANY prize is slightly higher - is actually, predictably, a worse bet than before. The expectation value for the jackpot varies with the jackpot, and is a f

Ohio Classic Lotto Cash Option
I don't think it matters because they state the cash option is 50% of the jackpot amount. If you go to jackpot calculation page, it states that the jackpot pay-out is an estimate and may vary depending on the interest rates for a 30 year annuity. Maybe it's the jackpot amount that should be lowered. I entered $10M and got the following. CASH OPTION CASH VALUE: $5,000.000 FEDERAL TAX (25%): 1,250,000 STATE TAX (6%): 300,000 ____________________________________ ONE-TIME NET
