How soon till the next $ Billion $ Jackpot?
The cash jackpot was increased $12.1 mil
There's your explanation. A month ago the record jackpot had a cash value of $983.5 million, which was almost exactly 62% of the annuity value of $1,586.4 million. If the current annuity had the same ratio the available cash would mean an advertised annuity jackpot of $203.6 million for Wednesday's drawing.
Last time around the advertised annuity jackpot rolled from 180 to 202, which would have meant 111.6 to 125.2 for the cash value. That means t

How soon till the next $ Billion $ Jackpot?
You're fixating on the percentage increase and completely missing the point. A 15.44% increase from a jackpot of 136 isn't the same as a 15.44% increase from a jackpot of 40 or 500. You seem to think that the 15.44% increase from 136 to 157 is smaller than the 28% increase from 75 to 96, but they're both the exact same $21 million.
We know that, in general, sales are less than they were in the past, so the typical increase for any given jackpot tends to be less now than it was a year or two a

Are we throwing away our money by trying to beat an RNG?
For many, including myself, it's not RNG itself that's an issue, but rather there's a lack of transparency in regards to draw integrity. A properly functioning RNG, assuming no tampering, is just as good as balls.
However, it's conceivable that the number distribution may be different between the two methods, but the outcome over many draws should be identical with all numbers / combinations having an equal chance of appearing. Casinos have used RNGs for decades with relatively few issues. Pe

Powerball renews interest in Mississippi state lottery
By all accounts, Mississippians by droves participated in the $1.6 billion Powerball lottery that was awarded this past week, but the state of Mississippi did not participate.
Mississippi is one of six states that does not conduct a lottery. The others are Alabama, Nevada, Utah, Hawaii and Alaska.
But, according to many people, the fact the state does not have a lottery does not mean Mississippians were not vying for the record jackpot.
Supporters of the lottery say the state of Mississ

Lottery veterans question Tennessee family's behavior before claiming Powerball winnings
Tennessee Lottery rules also permit jackpots to be claimed in the name of a trust for more privacy.
The Tennessee Lottery doesn't have an information on claiming in the name of a trust.
Can the winner of a large Lottery prize remain anonymous?
It is the policy of the Tennessee Lottery to treat such information as a public record. The Lottery will therefore disclose the name, home state and home town of winners if a request is received for such information.

Lottery veterans question Tennessee family's behavior before claiming Powerball winnings
And that's why I said most of the comments and not all . Most of your comments are reasonable.
If you see someone who is about to step in front of a truck do you remain silent? or try to help?
As I said in my last post, it's possibly an act hoping much more attention will be paid to one of both of the other winners. Each news agency that reported a record jackpot had expert opinions on what jackpot winners should do, but from what I read it wasn't much different than we read on LP.

Lottery veterans question Tennessee family's behavior before claiming Powerball winnings
lejardin, Thank You. I am also changing my lottery playing. I think that I can wait till the jackpots for Mega Millions and Power Ball reach $150 - $200 million before I play.
Most of us here at LP know the odds but when the jackpot breaks records then we all hope that it will be one of our tickets that wins.
I am dissolving any agreements, promises, pledges that I made for this past PB run. I start clean for another record breaker.
We are here at LP to commiserate with one another a

California and Florida winners should learn from mistakes made by Tennessee winners
Godspeed, John and Lisa Robinson of Munford, Tenn.
The 50-somethings may have been Average Joes a day ago, but not after Friday morning when they revealed themselves on national television as big time winners in this week's record-breaking lottery.
The Robinsons' decision to fly to New York City to appear on NBC's Today show several hours before claiming their stake in the Powerball jackpot left some lo

Record $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot won by 3 tickets
Not sure if this has been confirmed, but....
A Pomona nurse who won the record-breaking Powerball jackpot was given a ticket by her boss. The 62-year-old woman is a senior registered nurse at Park Avenue Health Care and Wellness Center in Pomona, according to a spokesperson for nursing home owner Shlomo Rechnitz. Rechnitz bought 18,000 tickets for his employees and residents at 80 nursing homes across California. Rechnitz sent 600 tickets by mail to the Park Avenue Health Care and Wellness C
