At the bottom of the list is a colorful squarelink to USA MEGA, click that When the USA MEGA page opens up, on the left side you will see Mega Millions or Powerball and under each of those is Jackpot Analysis , click that When that page opens up, scroll down and find your state and it will show you the annuity payments with deductions for taxes if you are single or married. Pretty neat stuff.....Good luck

$944 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot set to make holiday wishes come true
Maybe if they advertised the prizes as after tax .. Probably wouldn't work so well in USA because of all the differing state tax rates on lottery prizes... But at least give the jackpot after federal taxes.. And maybe do the publicity on the cash value rather than the annuity value( Which inflates the perceived value of a jackpot).

$825 MILLION: Massive Mega Millions drawing set for Friday
That's why there's an annuity option. Keeps you from pissin it all away and you can focus on blowing away $7M a year and never have to think about investing any of that. Even with lump sum it's $220M on avg after taxes. If you can't enjoy that then you got bigger problems than money. There's plenty of lottery winners that are living a happy life. You only hear about the broke cuz they make for a sensational story and feeds into your confirmation bias.

Mega Millions confirms ticket price increase to $5, other changes coming April 2025
Not just low sales. The interest rates were so low that the annuity was 83% of the cash value compared with the current ~50% (And was pre COVID as good as somewhere in the 40%-50% range.) They couldn't afford to fund too many of the low value ($40m-$60m) wins

UPDATE: Proposed changes to Mega Millions game will raise ticket price to $5
Hmmmm $ 50 mil starting jackpots ..... What do they estimate the following jackpot to increase. Multiplier 10 x .... Does that include 2nd prize/ 1st runner up? I'll still play but .... won't but a ticket until it hits 200 mil ..... And won't but 2 tickets until it hits 400 mil etc etc. gotta be economical! Lastly ... Would it hurt the consortium to reduce the annuity to 20 years instead of 29?

Young winner decides against the lump sum By Kate Northrop A North Carolina man won a $1 million top prize in the lottery after he gave his sister some money to purchase a ticket on his behalf. An 18-year-old North Carolina resident ended up winning $1 million in the North Carolina Lottery after asking his sister to pick up a ticket for him. $36 million Mega Millions ticket sold in Florida goes unclaimed
This was the only unclaimed Mega Millions jackpot ticket in 2023 Only one? With just 6 jackpots in 2023 what are the odds that only 16.67% of them would go unclaimed? Using that math formula, 80% of $36 million is $28.8 million (which goes to education), and 20% is $7.2 million (going back to future prizes). Using a better formula 80% is $13.92 million because they're probably not going to put that money in to a 29 year annuity.

Virginia man who won $1,000 a week lottery prize in Cash4Life says it's just "good"
I believe this happened in Va as well..... There was a story a few years ago where someone asked for a MM or PB ticket and by mistake the clerk hit the wrong button and printed a Cash4Life ticket. The customer didn't want the mistake ticket and the clerk paid for it. That night the mistake ticket won that clerk $7,000,000 since the ticket ended up winning the grand prize and he took cash value instead of the annuity.
