What a relief that it is back at $12 million. I am glad that it didn't roll over again. All the constant attention from the media and it was all everyone was talking about. It was exciting at first when it went from $363m to $476m, but it started to wear out really fast as it got crazier. I perfer when the jackpots are lo and not a lot of attention is on them. But I still don't regret taking part in the biggest jackpot in the history of the globe.

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie :) just wanted to say, glad to be a part of the community, and best of luck to everyone! I also agree, that the cash option I think is way better, since one could form a Family Foundation, set yourself up as Trustee, and Ceo, everything would be tax free, including interest(except for personal salary). it annoys me as well. Not only the Lottery shows but the media as well just absolutely love to glorify the jackpots and what you could do with it. Up until a few years ago, jackpot winners were lucky just to net 1/3rd of the annuity prize. If the MM jackpot rolls this Friday, I'm thinking more in line of 850-900 million (600-640 Cash).

The projected jackpot is based on the cash value estimate and it looks like they are estimating a new record sales of around $250 million. The projection was $237 million on December 31, 2010 but ticket sales pushed the jackpot to $242 million. The first projection for the January 4, 2011 jackpot was $290 million, sales increased it to $350 million. and the record sales of $230 million gave a final jackpot at $380 million. Just as promised back in June of '05 with the matrix change, jackpots could reach a half billion dollars. It has finally happened with a dollar per ticket strategy. I'm wondering if PB it rethinking had it stuck with its dollar per ticket strategy, it would have eventually happened for it too.
