Pick 3 Strings!!
That oil is burning up, Kola! Hope I don't run out! Thanks for stopping in. And now is a new discovery for you folks to try. Duh! I didn't even think about this but when we are writing out our first string of numbers we have one of each, right? We have all the numbers right there staring us in the face to start off with so we can leave the first string alone. YAY! One less thing to have to figure out! (I found my thinking cap this morning, it was hiding under the bed!) Now most of the time wh

Pick 3 Strings!!
Nice to hear from you CW! The latest news on the strings is that I have been fooling around with plussing and minusing them. This is so it will give you a better chance to get those right numbers in the right pattern. What works for one state doesn't necessarily mean it will work in another so we have to shake them up a little. If you find you aren't getting good results using what I have shown here, try this new way. There will be more as I go along. I wish there were more hours in the day beca

One ticket wins $40 million Florida Lotto jackpot
For a brief moment, one of the two men who run Food R Us convenience store in Palm Springs, Florida, had their hands on a slip of paper worth $40 million. Then they passed it to one of their customers. The small, neighborhood store on Congress Avenue sold the sole winning ticket for Saturday's Florida Lotto jackpot. The winning numbers passed through our hands, said Raj Sam Savdas, who managers the store with Nicholas Azavedo. We are wishing them good luck. We have a lot of good cu

Wisconsin factory workers win $208M Powerball lottery
About 100 cheese factory workers in the Wisconsin town of St. Cloud have been celebrating because they say they're $208 million richer now. Wisconsin state lottery officials say no one has officially stepped forward to claim Saturday's Powerball jackpot. But a large contingent of employees from Sargento Cheese tells WITI-TV in Milwaukee they have the winning ticket locked in a safe somewhere. It's not clear when the group will try to redeem the ticket. Lottery spokeswoman Jessica Iver

Andy Rooney: Lotteries and lottery players are stupid
Editor: The following is a weekly 60 Minutes commentary by CBS News correspondent Andy Rooney, originally broadcast on March 19, 2006, and re-broadcast last night. The study that Rooney quotes, saying that poor people gamble the most, is completely false. All credible studies show that all demographics gamble roughly the same amount. Rooney's commentary is shown here to illustrate the ignorant and myopic arguments of some anti-lottery critics. I suppose it's true that I'm too easily annoye

A million bad reasons to vote
Why the Arizona voter lottery is a terrible idea By Jeff Jacoby, Boston Globe Arizona voters will face an embarrassment of electoral riches this fall, when as many as 19 proposed laws appear on the state ballot for their approval. Among the measures to be voted on are a 50 percent increase in state legislators' salaries, a constitutional amendment allowing bail to be denied to illegal aliens , and the designation of English as the state's official language. But one Arizona initiative ha
