New machines for the new Mega Millions?
It must be a NJ thing. Here in Washington state I can pick the Mega ball myself and have the computerpick the rest or I can pick 1,2,3,4,5, white balls and have the computer pick theMega ball or any number of combinations. The machine will come up with an error because it knows that you have not picked all 6 numbers. When the clerk tells you that there is an error just tell him to hit the quick pick button and it should print a ticket made up of your numbers and the computers numbers. As far as a s

S.C. Lottery may learn lessons from Georgia
That thud you might hear is SC lotto officials seeing their money stay in NC and Ga ?Maybe........ I live near SC and play Powerball when the Pot is big( like now ), but I admit I never even glance at their other games.Right now, I am working the GA Fantasy 5 real hard, but I suspect the days of the huge jackpots( 700,000-1,000,000) are over since they started awarding one quick pick for matching 2 of 5 numbers. This enables more people to jump right back in and dilute the large pots. Good o

Method of Choice
It depends on the game. for pick3 and pick4 I use a data base to come up with the numbers. On CashBall I only play even numbers and choose between 5 different numbers as the bonus ball. On Powerball, Lotto South, Tic Tac Cash, and Double Up I play quick picks. I used to pick my own numbers on Powerball until I won $5000. I figured that would be as close as I was going to get on my own and decided to let the machine pick for me. I also noticed that in Illinois most people who win the little lotto

Instant Game Prices.
I don't play scratch-off games for philosophical reasons. When you pay your money, you have to take what the clerk gives you. Much like a quick pick. If I lose, I want to lose with my other numbers. Then it is my own darned fault. The other reason not to bother with scratch-offs is that the odds of actually winning something significant are better with Pick 3 and you can pick your poison. In Texas the official odds are fraudulant. They count paying a dollar and winning a dollar as a win. I

Mega Millions changing June 24 -official

Decided to leave for a while
You have truly been an inspiration. I have learned a lot of things from you as well as from other members of the post and I am gratefully to all of you. My time spent reading and following the post is not without its rewards. When I first logged onto the Post, I did not even know how to come to a reasonable solution of picking my own numbers. I would play Pick 3 and Pick 4 but I just got Quick Picks. And..... needless to say, I did not win very often. It has become much more lucrative for

110 $100,00 WINNERS !!??
Checking the stats on the Powerball site, it seems like something was in the water in AZ and IN. PA, which typically gets the most of everything, should have almost doubled the match-5 count above AZ, using the total wins as a measure. It just barely beat it. Other states with similar overall win figures didn't come that close to the AZ count. I sent a message to the AZ lottery asking if they can reveal if the winners were Quick Pick or self-pick for those tickets. I'll post any reply if I get o

Old Pick 3 method reviewed.
For simple answers do as good old Vision Dude does and just by a quick pick or quick pick it yourself out of your head, that is as simple as it gets, since they say that the lottery is random then if they are right it would be just as good as anything else.Another simple system would be Buy all possible combos , you would not make a profit and be in the red, but you would win all of the time and it's as simple as it gets.I don't say that you can win often with only 1 combo, compromises have to

New Stat option for Top Predictors
I think it is an excellent idea, if it can be done. I will admit that for tomorrow I did an all states and I may do it again for the entire week next week. Why? Because I have spent a lot of time collecting data on the top numbers that hit in Pick 3 in all states and Pick 4 in all states. I'm using that data to post at least until I see how it does. If someone is just using quick picks and doing 50 of them for all states, they will have winners, of course, but their stats will show how well
