Study: Brain Prefers Working for Cash
Many people on this site work very hard at earning their paycheck and they somehow find a way to take some time analyse the lottery they are playing and pick their own numbers. To me, thats really hard work. It takes a long time to look through past drawing data and come up with a system to pick your own numbers. If someone like that wins the lottery, I think they have earned it and will be happy. On the other hand, I do agree witht he research above. If someone who does not do any work to

Michigan man wins $1 million lottery jackpot twice
I am happy for this guy but how does he win a scratch-off game (totally dumb luck) twice with 1:623,000 odds and I can't win a PICK 5 with 1:169,000 odds just once and I am putting some thought and effort into the numbers I pick using a system????? Like I said I am very happy for those who win big money but it just gets so frustrating sometimes to see these people win and you know just about all of them put no effort into getting those numbers. They are just buying quick picks, scratch-offs, usi

Quick Picks Vs. Number Selection
Q: How are quick-pick tickets generated for games like Powerball? Is it in the local store terminal or a host computer? How many host computers are there?A: The quick-pick algorithm resides in the store's terminal. Each time it is seeded with several randomizer keys based on time and previous terminal activity.I found the minnesota lottery was very straightforward and honest with the answers to questions posted on their website. I found a lot of answers to some questions I've had. I've also se

Number Systems and statistics.
i only check previous numbers i've played and also previous numbers drawn as winners to avoid playing a number that was ever drawn. fact is, megamillions has over 135,000,000 number combinations and the game only has to draw 104 of those per year. the last powerball drawing for $103 million sold around 20 million tickets. powerball has approx. 120,000,000 number combinations. assuming every ticket sold had different numbers (which is not likely), there would be 100,000,000 millions numbers l

Crunch question
Many may consider number 13 unlucky but I'm certinly not one of them. I've included 13 in virtually every 'my pick' lottery ticket that I've ever purchased. Although this thread is about Pick 5, when speaking of Powerball, I've also included 13 either as one of the white or otherwise as the +red in almost every non quick pick ticket I've ever purchased. Since day one, I've always had the feeling that if I ever do hit one of the nicer PB prizes, 13 will be along for the ride. Thirteen unlucky? No

Let's Crack the Code
I started keeping spreadsheets on the powerball in March of '03, right before I found this site and registered. before that I might throw a buck on a big jackpot here and there, but just a Quick Pick or a line of personal lucky numbers. What drives me is the challenge of beating the system . Not by wheeling an outrageous number of tickets, but by trying to use the computer to pick a winner... it only really has to work once ;-) so far it hasn't :-(It is also a good reason to continue to pract
