Lottery ticket sales increase across country
Sales may be up year-over-year ending June, but you couldn't tell that by the sales of the last month or so. Interest has seemed to drop off a bit, looking at the growth rate of Mega and Powerball on the latest runs. For example, tonight is the 8th roll for Powerball and it is only up to $107m, versus $111m on the 8th in the last run, $120m on the 8th roll in May, $125m in March, and $126m in February. Or maybe it is seasonal, as the end of last year had some slower growth rates -- although

3 men accused of scamming lottery winner out of $3M
[Is there some sort of goofy 'tilt' towards imbeciles winning the bigger jackpots? If yes, is there a reasonably priced place I can go to empty out my brain quickly Yes, Kentucky.

If you are Illegal and play lottery shouldn't they learn the rules on collection
Sully16 You bring out very good points regarding this issue and somehow I feel it is equivalent to having someone cut in line in front of you at the grocery store or while sitting in traffic. However, they are still here illegal. Unfortunately, they will still continue to play the lottery and with lottery karma keep winning the big jackpots which is why you heard scam stories like this over and over. At this point, there is not much anyone can really do about it since the only requirement is

Illinois lottery website since Northstar took over
So far I'm not rral impressed with these guys. They're not sending out the e-mails with the game results and only updating jackpots on the website, where as prior to them taking over there was a daily posting of where jackpots were hit, how many winners, and what type ticket. Now the website shows this: The Prize Payouts Page is currently down for maintenance and will be back up shortly. Sorry for the inconvenience. Not quite shortly . It's ben up there for awhile. It seems

$41.2M Ohio Classic Lotto jackpot largest in country again
I hope somebody let's me know when it hits $50 million. Just watch the top jackpots in the results section in late October and early November and you'll know. I estimate only 500,000 to a little over a million combinations are sold per drawing so this jackpot could roll for a while yet.

Why Do Mathematicians Consider The Lottery Random
Lottery games don't have to be random, just unpredictable to a point that players can't scheme to profit more than it cost to play consistently. Most lotteries have in place rules and payout amounts to prevent that happening just in case their games aren't truly random or when their jackpots exceed the amount it cost to play every combination. Such wasn't the case in the recently exposed Massachusetts game with its rundowns when the jackpot reached $2M. That game is scheduled to be replaced o

There needs to be a harder MUSL game.
OK, to answer your questions, no I've never won a jackpot and I never will. My best hope is for 4+1 or maybe 5+0 on PB or MM. The jackpots are impossible for some (like me) to win, but too easy for others (who have won). I really think people would win the jackpot of this game I proposed and it would probably be won at least 4 times a year. Of course to entice people you'd have to start off with a BIG jackpot, like maybe start at $200,000,000 and cap it at $1,000,000,000. I guarantee you'd have

How math can't make you rich and famous
Grrr I tried to copy and paste....the line Unfortunately mathematics is of no great use..... It sounds like his mind is made up without even trying. As for the number of mathematicians winning jackpots.......that's assuming ALL mathematicians actually play the lottery AND use mathematics to choose their numbers.

Mathematics and the Lottery
JKING What you might also have a look at is taking for some predetermined ranges Top15 and Bottom15 numbers. For example, I did it for a range of 84 last draws, draw at a time, and checked this way 67 last draws. If played those 30 numbers would give 21 jackpots in 67 games. I also had a look at Top15 numbers only, but this time taking the best from a range of 24 draws only. The result seems to be beating what's is expected. I checked 67 games again and the result was: 3 of 5- 17 4 o
